It’s from the fist track, “Matches”
Listening to a new folk-rock album from Katherine Priddy and the fist word that comes to mind is “bewitching,” which is fitting for this song in particular. I love this lyric:
“Remember you who tell the tale
of how we climbed those pyres
They weren't burning witches
it was women on those fires”
Sorry to hear it. I hope your cat is ok and/or they can help!
Listening to this now and it’s wonderful. If you need something to bring your heart rate down just a little, but still move you, this is it.
Listening to this now. I love the way Shabaka never stops experimenting and trying new things. Every album is a discovery.

A mammoth sculpture with a looping video of a man moving in the sculpture running in the background on a white screen
A sculpture of a great burst of flowers springing from the prone body of a body sculpted in black
A sculpture of a mammoth skeleton with phonographs springing from the stand
Nick Cave’s Mammoth exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery is dope
This one again, as we wait for the new album from these legendary legends, here's a desert island album. Jazzsky #jazz
Wow. I’m sold.
Will do! Those are good recs. Nirvana: The Band: The Show: The Movie doesn’t appear to be available at the moment, but I’m excited to see it when I can.
It’s very intense. I’m glad I watched it, but I don’t know if I’d recommend it to someone else who might be unsure. I am definitely going to have to find something light to read or watch now.
It was probably a bad idea to watch The Deer Hunter for the first time while in a rough mental health place, and it did sort of wreck me, but I thought it was incredible.
I am studying for my Latin American midterm (two chapters down, one to go) and I have two completely different songs competing in my head as study music.
Do you need a new earworm?
1) Cumbia with a whole lot of marimba

There are more albums than I’ll be able to listen to (a nice problem to have), but here’s my list so far of albums out today that interest me. As always, tell me what else I’m missing.

That’s great that you’re able to see that. I’m glad it’s getting better and sorry that it’s still hard.
A silhouette of a hand, palm up, filled with a green grass pattern. The hand is held under the shape of a human kidney, painted pink blue and orange and filled with flower blossoms of those same colors.
Final design. Happy National Kidney Month!
Not as many people scoffing and saying “Don’t make me laugh” anymore. Probably because Comedy is Back.
Sorry to hear it. I hope you can get some relief soon.
I designed an illustration to commemorate my spouse’s kidney donation this month, and I like how this little time-lapse came out.
That’s really cool!
I just requested the double LP from my local record store. This is serious.
I’m only four tracks in, and I can already tell that this is an album I’m going to be playing a lot.
An incredible list of artists are featured on this new compilation album, and all of the proceeds go to War Child UK, supporting children living through active conflicts.
I’m just digging in now. I’m really excited for this whole album.
This album is terrific. Jazzsky #jazz
