A5 I agree, @kpsinedu.bsky.social and I see this often happens within digital or affinity spaces. Sometimes when things are pulled into classrooms, that organic student-centered agency is lost. I think maintaining students’ voices has to be central rather than predetermined by teachers #literacies

A2 watching my son in particular take up so many forms of literacies in these fandoms highlights the possibilities and the nuanced discourse. His engagement and commitment to these passioned groups highlights so many important literacies that are overlooked in school settings #literacies
A2 I’m not gonna lie, I’ve gone deep into fandom communities particularly around Real housewives (SLC specifically), fourth wing series, and Taylor swift Easter eggs . What’s been particularly fun has been to see how my own kids have entered fandoms like wings of fire and WWE #literacies

Especially right now. I am finding it particularly challenging to navigate as a scholar, teacher, and university employee. How can we continue this critical work in #literacies when words and voices that matter are being stripped away.

My first #literacies chat was when I was a graduate student. I was so confused as to what it was all about. I immediately felt a sense of community and connection which encouraged me to participate more!
