This art features 100 bees of various colors and shapes. These bees are designed in a cartoonish style, based on real species. The common name or species is written below the animals. Some bees are moving leaves, scraping plant hair, or sticking out their tongues. Some male bees have hairy faces and unusually shaped legs. There are also baby bees that have just hatched from their petal nests. Cute and colorful atmosphere. There are over 20,000 species of bees, so I only depicted a very small fraction of them!

During his career Stewart has been involved in research projects on black and grizzly bears, bighorn sheep, mule deer, whitetails, mountain lions and elk, along with three species of grouse.
โWhile not everyone will be funded, there is some expectation of a fair and transparent review process, and that doesnโt seem to be happening ... For new grad students, or those applying this year, the outright rejection without a clear reason is incredibly discouragingโ โ@kheyduk.bsky.social

I used this pic. today as part of my intro to adaptation in my UG class. I get students to guess what the pic shows and what it's for. I've done this w. other traits in prev. years to highlight how adaptation get us asking about function/purpose of traits in ways we dont do with nonliving things.
๐ข I would be happy to host a 2-year DDLS Postdoc at my group using museum genomics to look at recent adaptation in insect pollinators ๐๐๐ฆ๐งฌ

This photosynthetic magic trick allows for the big finale: some sacoglossan sea slugs can detach their own heads from their body (which contains the gut!) & live on photosynthesis for a few weeks while the body regrows from the head!
The body, unfortunately, cannot grow a new head.
