Envious when I read about a creator being asked about a character/work someone resonated with and their response is "I don't remember" - I'm not that prolific.

It's fun watching all the windows weirdos suddenly trying to replicate their lives in linux. Discovering all kinds of new software because I don't really interact with computers outside of a terminal or browser, lol.
I'm demanding cookies from friends because this was my first thought :P That contract was an albatross they're more than happy to foist on a competitor. Done in 2024 on negative margin with a long term... On top of all future work.
don't feel anything at all any which way. that's bad right?
or is it good now?
If they were trained to help find/setup shortcuts and then not get used anymore for that task they could be a net positive (for this one thing)
but of course we can't have that, and all the other issues ensure it's an overall net negative either way.
I did also repair my playdate's busted dpad and been actually playing backlog playdate games.
which is nice. well, it's been nice since I gave up and bought reading glasses.
what if the rpi cpu was 4x bigger and stuffed with sram, then everyone just had to deal with 128 megs of ram?
genki I/II books/workbook, wanikani (kanji/grammar), (bunpro? grammar?). to start
Frankly: pretty agitating for social reasons (discord, not doomscroll). Otherwise also agitating as I cram through "pick this up" and "fix that" tasks. I can't just do stuff anymore? I need to be weird about it?
been doing "no backlight day" on saturdays for the last month. E-ink okay. smartwatch okay (for phone calls/controlling stuff), also my standalone camera. no go on anything else with a backlight. Doing it every week instead of occasional "detox".
idly dreaming about a low-wage janitorial IT job at an observatory somewhere. Corporate culture has rotted entirely off the bone.
Stupid question: how are you copyrighting/licensing claude output? It doesn't seem to be legal in the us.
My 10+ year old vacuum is dying so we got one of the new ones that illuminates the dust on the floor and I've never been so triggered in my life.
desktop is old enough to make a win11 upgrade difficultβ¦ which I only use for games. instead I upgraded ubuntu to 25.10 and installed steam and itβs completely fine so far.
fuck it. win11 is complete slop. if a game doesnβt work Iβll play something else.
Just did our first one and it kicked ass. Thanks for keeping the dream of the (90's, ish) alive!
guess technically you can ask them to not train, but it kills history features and it's unclear if it applies to their CLI tooling.
Customers will probably run it through AI ten times over, but if they're "enterprise" they might at least be able to exempt from leaking... but I have to trust everyone in those orgs to do that.
Hrm :/
GH says they don't use private repos, but in a way that seems loose. Also none of anyone has been respecting copyright or licenses this entire time, so anything you put anywhere seems fair game right now.
Want my new storage engine to stay proprietary for a little while... at this point I'm not sure I can safely push it to a private github repo to share with customers.
Since I'm not "enterprise" I also can't run any AI review on it without it leaking into their training material. Hm :\

think nonsense graphical design helped me suspend disbelief better than nonfunctional code
Tempted to drop 32bit support and see what happens. Makes structs difficult to keep aligned/padded.
that would be lolhard. If true I'd still think 50/50: apple should have a fair amount of negotiating power. they also have a history of changing their pipeline if someone fucks them, so the RAM manu's could lose biz permanently in 5-10 years.
betting apple has a long term price contract and will come out unscathed, just like with tariffs. everyone else suffers.
wanted to wait a few days so I wouldnβt have to stay up so late and itβd be closer but looks like clouds for a week

got what I came for: comet 3i/atlas. three 10m@15s exposure stacks started a few minutes apart in increasingly better light. this thing moves _fast_
andromeda galaxy
trying to hate this long-night time of year less. scope in back yard. ipad on desk with live view of images as the exposures stack.
makes me want to move even more :P
been planning a whole blog series on why DRAM density is stuck and costs suck and etc.
seems like I donβt need to bother.
Writing "step by step" in the first paragraph of any communication is a sign of an LLM TBI.
Wish I had the same self-awareness about life that macrumors does in predicting a new apple tv coming soon every month since 2023.
