If you presented an environmental justice paper at this yearβs ASA, consider submitting for the Annette Kolodny prize! You can also nominate a paper that you saw - please do so! www.theasa.net/awards/commi...
This is so great, thanks for sharing!
We set up a feed for Environmental Humanities, collecting Β«envhumΒ», Β«envhistΒ», and Β«ecocritΒ» posts. bsky.app/profile/did:...
Please read our open letter to the WVU Board of Governors published in the Boston Review today. @jessiew.bsky.social , @rosecasey.bsky.social and I wrote it together and we mean every word.
I loved this book - congrats!
A modest proposal: university presidents should lose their jobs the moment they fire the first faculty member for βfinancial reasons.β Like it should be a trigger clause in their contracts.

Hooray and congratulations!!! We are all so lucky to be able to read it - I canβt wait.
Have you read Birnham Wood? It does exactly this with the ecothriller form!
Also I developed a set of rituals for when rejections of various scales come in so that at least I know I get some treats and how I will handle the horrible horrible rejection feelings. It truly sucks but structures and nice things can help!
I once saw a fiction writer say that their job was to collect rejections, because thatβs the sign that youβre sending stuff out, which is the part of the process that you can control. That really stuck with me and helped me move through this exact paralysis!
Iβm a dry town but thereβs an Ottolenghi cauliflower cake in the oven that I spent an impractical amount of time on. And a non alcoholic cocktail with my name on it!
Manu it was this that really worked, I knew that my abjection re the passage of time would be visible to you π
AAAAAHHH I DID IT
Philly! Although I donβt know for how much longer.
Haha ilu Jeff but these documents stopped having any affective charge about three weeks of pdf-compiling ago
Ooh yes great idea - I have been really wanting some zip-up hitops, and a person who has submitted their tenure file should not have to work so hard to get their sneakers on!
Iβve uploaded all my tenure documents but now Iβm staring at the screen too afraid to press submit. Taking suggestions on ways to break the impasse/adequately motivating rewards that I can use to get myself across the finish line!

Iβm not an early Americanist but everything Iβve ever read by Ana Schwartz has been incredible!
DMed you over there!
Right? That has to be a performance de-enhancer
Ok I saw Barbie and while itβs politically unhinged it was just so great to see something with a $150 mil budget that didnβt spend it on CGI? Likeβ¦rehearsal time! Choreography! Sets! Get Slash to do a guitar solo! Practical effects! Indigo Girls royalties! More of this pls culture industry
For the price of like one CGI laser, Slash could do a solo in every single film of the next decade. Who do we talk to about this.
YES omg. Like why does everyone look like an HGTV vinyl floor.
my department is hiring for TT positions in gender/sexuality studies and creative writing! if you are one of the 4 people seeing this, and you know someone who might be interested, please pass these links along. (the creative writer ideally has a PhD and an MFA.)
