On this day 80 years ago, Ho Chi Minh declared Vietnam's independence - freedom from Japanese occupation, as well as an end to French colonialism. He and his ideals were ostracised by reinforced French control, aided by British and American support.

The image shown is not an ore mine but is used for comparison with it's accompanying image. This image shows a vast marble/stone quarry, carved deep into the earth. Towering vertical walls of stone rise high, cut into precise geometric blocks, their surfaces - serrated grey. At the base of the quarry, large rectangular slabs of marble have been separated, with machinery, cables, and ladders scattered across the floor. Dwarfed by the massive scale of the quarry, workers and equipment appear tiny against the monumental rock face, emphasizing the immensity of human extraction compared to the natural landscape. In contrast to Ore deposits often appear as veins, streaks, or patches within host rock, and the site would look more chaotic, with piles of fragmented rubble rather than neatly cut blocks. This site is producing dimension stone. Dimension stone is used intact for buildings.
The buildings rise steeply, their sharp angles and repeating window grids creating a sense of precision and order. The mirrored glass panels capture fragments of neighboring structures, producing a play of reflections that blurs where one building ends and another begins. The perspective emphasizes height and verticality, making the towers appear monumental and almost abstract against the empty expanse of sky. To the left of the image, we see a surveillance camera, perched on an arc of metal - watching. There is a large red 'no-entry' sign on the bottom right of the image. There are cranes perched on top of the buildings - construction of steel, metal and stone towers continues.
'The ores extracted from holes in the ground were sold to create the stories in the air. The deeper the extractions went, the higher the great towers of office work stretched into the sky' - Kate Crawford, Atlas of A.I.
The wound and the polished facade.
The image is a surreal artwork showing the large, disembodied head of an elderly Caucasian man resting on a hospital bed. His head is attached to numerous wires and electrodes, connected to medical monitors. Around him, a group of doctors in white coats observe and take notes, as if studying his brain or consciousness. He has a dull, lifeless eyes - staring into space. This scene is impossible in reality โ the manโs body is absent, leaving only his head as the patient. Treating consciousness and life as a series of measurable signals. The man is under surveillance and control โ the wires and machines symbolize how modern medicine and technology monitor and manage human existence. He is totally disembodied. The rest of the body (and perhaps the soul) is absent. The patient is present physically (his head), but absent in fullness (his whole personhood), highlighting the tension between science and humanity.

"Perhaps we lose sight of wisdom when we try to see the world from a godlike perspective." - one of 'masculine maximalism'.
No doubt. Both and. It's a symbol.
It called those who see behind the mystification & the illusions 'woke' because it fears the people's awareness. It fears others waking up to the fact that we are all oppressed. We are all colonized. It is the ontology of colonization itself and it replicates like a virus inside the host until seen.
All of our struggles are interconnected.

This, by @jasonhickel.bsky.social, is the clearest explanation I have yet read of why the US and UK governments continue to support the Israeli government, regardless of its great crimes against humanity.
