Lukas Tribelhorn, and Thomas Friemel will present their work on detecting and measuring smoking cues on TikTok conducted in collaboration with Lion Wedel (Weizenbaum Institute, Germany).

We are excited to announce that our team will be presenting our work at two upcoming conferences in Munich and Braga!

🛠 Method Focus: I love combining multi-method approaches, mostly quantitative, with real social media data, such as tracking or data donations.

❤️ What I Love About Academia: The freedom to deeply explore topics I care about, the hands-on work with data and statistics, and the chance to turn insights into something meaningful for both theory and practice.

📱 Favorite Digital Media Platform: Instagram and I are in an on-again, off-again relationship. Currently off...

🌿 Outside Academia, I Enjoy: I'm an outdoor enthusiast at heart—whether it's hiking, trail running, snowboarding, or cross-country skiing. I love spending time in nature with my family and friends, from simple forest adventures and campfires to hiking tours and sleeping under the stars.

❤️ What I Love About Academia: I genuinely enjoy the exchange of ideas at conferences and the opportunities for networking and collaboration. One of my favorite parts of academic work is conducting empirical studies, and contributing to the generation of new, data-driven knowledge.
