From the landmark National Cancer Plan, to the crucial Menβs Mental Health Strategy and HIV Action Plan, as well as campaigns to clamp down on junk food adverts, Ashley is a testament to this Labour Government.
I pay tribute to my predecessor Ashley Dalton MP and her incredible work, delivered most inspiringly while also battling her own health issues.
Having spent 4 years in opposition shadowing this role, as well as having led on several public health campaigns as a backbench MP since, I am deeply passionate about delivering on this important brief for the government.
I am honoured to have been appointed as the Minister for Public Health and Prevention in the Department of Health and Social Care. πΉπ©Ί

I am proud to be a member of the APPG on Commercial Sexual Exploitation and will continue to support their fantastic work to put victim/survivors first and end this facilitation of abuse once and for all.

I am proud that this Labour government have announced that tech companies will have 48 hours to remove non-consensual images from when they are first reported. This is the action needed to match our mission to halve violence against women and girls within a decade. (2/3)
Violence against women and girls is an abhorrent stain on our society. The action we take against it, therefore, is nothing short of a moral mission. π§΅: (1/3)

60 years ago, the βUniversity of the Airβ White Paper set out a radical vision that still drives us today: your background or location should never be a barrier to education.
That became the @openuniversity.bsky.social, proving that great education truly can reach anyone, anywhere.
We're fixing the front door of the NHS.
More GPs. Same-day urgent appointments. Backed by an extra Β£485 million for GP practices.
Through investment and modernisation, we are rebuilding our NHS.
For too long too many children havenβt had the support they need to succeed.
That must change.
Labour will transform our schools system so every child can achieve and thrive.

At the OSCE PA conference in Vienna, I was proud to reiterate the UKβs support for Ukraine.

This week I visited Central Park Primary School in East Ham, showcasing some of our countryβs very best school food, supported by Juniper Ventures and Newham Borough Councilβs trailblazing βEat for Freeβ initiative, which has been providing universal free school meals since 2009.
Yesterday I voted to scrap the two-child benefit cap and invest in our countryβs future. The previous Government left us with a record number of children in poverty.
The actions of this Labour Government will take 450,000 children out of poverty and radically improve their health and education.πΉ
