and yeah for sure, same here!!! + i know there's a lot of great people in the scene of course. sometimes tho i'm just like 'why. is it so much harder for female characters to find their foothold hgfghj' and a lot of times the answer is underlying misogyny-

this guy on the ffxiv forums nearly three years ago who made a post on how ffxiv's writing doesn't respect the players' possible eternal bonds marriage with another player because they're making some NPCs look too close to the wol. and as such he cited that g'raha tia is an attempted homewrecker

and honestly sometimes if you ship two women you get hate for getting in the way of ships too but notice how it's usually the people rping the women who get the nasty messages,

YEAH. this. like don't get me wrong i've had some great ships w female characters over the years but it does. feel hard to find ones sometimes.

the worst is when female characters get hate if you ship them w a man bc you're getting in the way of someone's m/m ship,,, (this has happened to me.)

limiting interactions on that last post like 'i'm not hitting that hornet's nest of misogynistic xiv people and letting them say shit to me'

also not to mention for like lilli specifically the amount of hate i've gotten in general toward her in xiv spaces/weird anons on my personal tumblr i'm like. ok so do we just hate women. is it the misogyny,

given how some xiv people act about female characters i shouldn't be surprised but

like obviously i love the people i write with and i'm not accusing anyone in specific but sometimes. it feels like there's a slight bias toward male characters/people don't engage w the female characters the same way they do w men

i have been thinking sometimes... idk. it's hard in rp to get a lot of interaction on female characters, idk if it's just a skill issue on my part but i know when i write women in general i have to work a lot harder to get things going
