As some countries at the #COP30 climate summit attempt to block gender-inclusive human rights language in negotiations, Nikki Reisch of @ciel.org says the controversy is a distraction to "derail the talks" and "avoid a phaseout of the fossil fuel era."
#COP31 is now expected to be held in Turkey after Australia dropped its bid to host the event, in return for its minister chairing the talks.
Choosing a host shouldn't be a saga. The decision should be made based on their commitment to #ClimateJustice, science & #HumanRights.
