You watched the same playlist I did - it's mostly cave men
We made a playlist of stone age TV commercials for this episode, and we found so many we had to make it a two-parter! Let us know if there are any good cavemen ads we missed and we'll add them to the list for Part Three! (Yes, we covered the Geico Cavemen) youtube.com/playlist?lis...
Did you know we posted our regular episode last weekend? I just forgot to share it here! It's about cavemen in advertising, and it's a pretty good one: youtu.be/Z-tq7i-o178 π§ͺπΊ
I just watched this last month! It's great, but the palaeontology content was a little more sparse than I'd hoped - I think we'd need to watch the whole series to get enough for an episode, but if there's interest we can cover it.
On our latest episode we're reviewing Boonie Bears: Blast into the Past (2019), and exploring one of China's most popular children's series, with almost 900 episodes and ten feature films grossing over $1 billion at the box office! π§ͺπΊ youtu.be/JBW9mf1_3mE
I think that's what they were going for but I don't think he pulls it off
On today's episode weβre reviewing Cavegirl (1985), a movie about a teenage incel and his manic pixie cave girl, which Wikipedia misleadingly describes as a βsex comedyβ, since it fails to deliver on both fronts π§ͺπΊ youtu.be/4bfJsO3frI4
Today weβre reviewing Korg: 70,000 B.C. (1974), a childrenβs TV series about a Neanderthal family from Hanna-Barbera, creators of The Flintstones, Scooby-Doo, and more π§ͺπΊ

Good point!
Cool, we'll add it to the list! Thanks!
Happy New Year! Today we're channeling our 2000s-era edgelord atheism and reviewing The Rap Guide to Evolution, an album and associated series of music videos by artist Baba Brinkman π§ͺπΊ

If you're looking for some holiday entertainment, why not check out some of the other holiday archaeology movies we've reviewed in past years, like The Christmas Quest? youtu.be/UukozB8lVfw
Happy Longnight! To celebrate the December Solstice, we're reviewing a holiday episode of Cavemen, the 2007 sitcom based on the popular Geico insurance commercials π§ͺπΊ youtu.be/GQKPLac4Ae0
Amazing, I'm gonna add this to the list for our next music episode!
For this one, I'd recommend watching the movie first if you don't want any spoiler! www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0lR...
Today weβre reviewing the paradoxically and yet aptly named Teenage Cave Man (1958), the story of a 30-something teenage rebel who dares to break the rules and explore beyond his Stone Age tribeβs borders β and discovers a shocking twist!! π§ͺπΊ

On today's episode we've invited Dr. Carlton Shield Chief Gover from the Great Plains Archaeology Podcast on @archpodnet.bsky.social to review Prey (2022), a prequel to the Predator franchise in which the eponymous alien hunter meets his match on the Great Plains of 1719

Thanks to Carlton for joining us to talk about this movie. Stay tuned for our episode next week!
Weβve dug too far! We overshot the Stone Age and hit the Dinosaur Age again! Today weβre joined by palaeontologist Joe Wood to review The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), the second movie in the Jurassic franchise (and the last good one) π§ͺπ¦π¦

We listen to tons of archaeology podcasts!
Anything from @archpodnet.bsky.social, especially the Pseudoarchaeology Podcast and @duancientaliens.bsky.social. Also @movieswedig.bsky.social, @sethchagi.bsky.social, @probsnotaliens.bsky.social, and of course @sotsapodcast.bsky.social!
Straw poll for archaeologists πΊ:
1) Do you listen to archaeology podcasts? If so, which ones?
2) If you don't listen to archaeology podcasts, what podcasts do you listen to?
3) If you don't listen to archaeology podcasts, what would get you to listen to one?
A screenshot from the movie "The Lost Tribe" of an archaeologist holding up a "missing link" skull. The skull has a weird depression transversely across the top of it. Superimposed is a "gamer dent" meme: an image of a bald gamer removing his headphones to reveal that they have left an impression on the top of his head, but it is photoshopped to an absurd degree. The similarity between the dent in the skull and in the guy's head is uncanny.
BTW, check out the gamer dent on this "missing link" skull!
We're continuing spooky month with a review of The Lost Tribe, aka Primevil (2009), the story of a tribe of Predator-like missing links on a Caribbean island, and the Catholic conspiracy to cover it up π§ͺπΊ

Youβve seen mummies; youβve seen zombies; but what about a resurrected Iron Age bog body? It's October so we're reviewing scary movies this month! First up is Legend of the Bog (2009), featuring Vinnie Jones and probably the worst written archaeologist we've ever seen πΊπ§ͺ
youtu.be/IALZUy5ZQ3I
Great idea! I have been wanting to cover Prey but I want to get an Indigenous archaeologist as a guest for that one, and I'm not sure who I should ask. Maybe I'll reach out to some potential guests!
A graph with a zig-zaggy blue line showing the IMDB ratings for 79 Vinnie Jones movies in chronological order, which range from about 8/10 to about 2/10. A best-fit line indicates a downward trend over time, starting at about 6/10 and declining to about 4/10. y = -0.0230x + 5.6722 R squared = 0.15821
It's officially October, so we're planning some scary movies for upcoming episodes! We just watched Legend of the Bog (2009), which prompted Ross to plot the decline of Vinnie Jones' IMDB scores over time (this is what happens when scientists watch movies) www.imdb.com/title/tt0928...
Today we're taking a look at Phineas and Ferb, two precocious STEM-minded stepbrothers who fill their summer vacation with gadgets and adventures, including Egyptian movie mummies, dinosaur time-travel capers, and thawed-out cartoon cavemen! youtu.be/3PUlnzomLWo
Thanks! Now maybe my imposter syndrome will be cured π
We're also excited to announce that we've joined @archpodnet.bsky.social! After you listen to our episode you should go check out some other APN shows! www.archaeologypodcastnetwork.com
Ever wonder about the stone-age origins of modern things? Then listen to our latest episode where we're reviewing The Origins Of, a recurring segment on The Armstrong and Miller show in which cavemen behave anachronistically! youtu.be/qFCXXvnZ_vQ π§ͺπΊ
