Teen loneliness triggers ‘reward seeking’ behaviour A study has found that adolescents become highly motivated to seek rewards after just a few hours of social isolation. This may be beneficial in driving them

Teenagers are especially sensitive to loneliness, new #research has found.

But when social reconnection isn’t possible, this can drive them to seeking harmful rewards like alcohol or drugs.

Very interesting findings, seeing that epigenetics play a huge role in the prenatal stage. Can‘t wait for longitudinal study designs to show causality regarding later psychological development of these individuals.

One year ago 🤩 insane how time flies! My first year as post-doc is coming to a close and while somedays it feels like I am still in the same place I was a year ago, I also see how much I‘m not. I continue to investigate #executivefunctions in children with #chd and am continuously inspired. 🫀
