That's just one way lenacapavir can stop the virus. It's so effective as a therapeutic & prophylactic because it targets multiple stages of the HIV life cycle. Others have shown that it also stops the capsid from entering the nucleus, & disrupts assembly of new capsids.

We use #SingleMolecule🔬to see how a capsid-targeting antiviral (lenacapavir) hacks assembly of the HIV capsid, which normally protects the #HIV genome. Now also with real-time visualization of the drug breaking open the capsid. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
