NEW: My interview with Green leader Zack
Polanski
X
• He's been speaking to a "handful" of Labour MPs about defecting to the Greens
• There is a "sensitive and nuanced conversation" around Zionism - but he won't disavow the "Zionism is racism" motion
• Explains why he criticised Corbyn for Labour antisemitism but doesn't now: "I believed what I was reading"
• Blames bots for the online abuse targeted at him
• How his upbringing shaped his politics
• Will run for a parliamentary seat - nothing outside London, and not the mayoralty - and confirms one plan is to succeed, not beat,
Diane Abbott

“I believed what I was reading” is IMO perfectly reasonable for a whole hell of a lot of absolutely insane fraudulent shit in the late-Brexit era. Surely our political/media class wouldn’t unite in cynicism and/or idiocy to just foghorn drivel at the public, as if it was all real. That’s crazy!

The funny / tragic thing here is there is absolutely a way to get preferential treatment but to achieve that objective you have to i) figure out what that ‘way’ is, and ii) determine if you’re willing to accept the itrade offs. Unfortunately the UK approach seems to have no clue about this.

Every time I read what a UK minister says about the EU it almost feels like they're assuming we have the same power as members. We're not negotiating, we're making representations. Only EU institutions are negotiating their rules.

For the American ruling class only the lives of Troops matter.

The invasion of Iraq killed ~1m people.

All the mainstream criticism of it revolves around ~2k Troops dying.

If Iraqis, Palestinians, Lebanese and Iranian people could be exterminated without a Troop dying Warren etc would support it.

Again: if you are a superpower and your crackpot, fascist-led client state has finally bullshat you into fighting its enemies for them, then that is *your* fault. You have owned yourselves.

Tony spent most of his time as envoy for the UN Middle East Quartet telling rooms full of extremely right wing cranks Israel needed to “tell its story better”, by which he meant “tell more absurd lies, more convincingly”. So yes, this crackpot shit is what he believes and has been pushing for years.

Hannah Spencer: Green MP gets police escort from violent demo The Green Party MP was put into a waiting police car after a demonstration turned violent in Manchester.

The BBC goes to some length here to avoid stating that Spencer was harassed. We are told that the protest 'turned violent'.
No culprit is indicated beside in the Green's spokesperson's statement and no mention of Spencer being targeted is made.

Sign of where things are going that in a shockingly competent move Labour's social media team are actually straight up promoting the fact that he had this falling out with Trump re the Iran war. The British right wing press and party establishments may have fucked up here methinks.

It isn't a betrayal of one's progressive values to witness members of a country's diaspora dancing in the street and rejoicing at news of their home nation being bombed or the slaughter of hundreds of their compatriots, and question the goodness of their intentions or clarity of their moral compass.

Robinson had previously tried to address “the Jewish Question” in a 2022 article which he deleted shortly afterwards. He divided the Jews into two types – acceptable ones and disreputable ones. He particularly had it in for the Anti-Defamation League – in his eyes a cesspit of Jewish liberalism and subversion internationally.

every few years society reinvents the "coffee flavored coffee" rant from first principles. in fact the first known incident of coffee-flavored-coffee induced rage dates to 1534 when Ahmad bin Abd al-Haqq al-Sunbati persuaded a group of listeners to destroy coffee shops in Cairo selling flat whites

It is my understanding the Kingdom refuses to use their capable military as a part of an effort to end the barbaric and terrorist Iranian regime who has terrorized the region and killed 7
Americans.
Question - why should America do a defense agreement with a country like the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that is unwilling to join a fight of mutual interest?
Americans are dying and the U.S. is spending billions to dislodge the terrorist Iranian regime that threatens the region. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia seems to be issuing statements and doing things in the background that are marginally helpful, but unwilling to participate in military operations to end the reign of terror coming out of Iran. Hopefully Gulf Cooperation Council countries will get more involved as this fiøht is in their backvard. If vou are not willine to

I urge more senior US officials to publicly dress down the allies they dragged into a war all of them hate, that’s getting them bombed. Really grind it home: their security is dependent on the whims of a bunch of clueless, pissy old men who don’t give a damn if they get the entire region melted.

I imagine the urgent lesson it’s taught the Iranian leadership is: get nuclear warheads ASAP, or die. Which is incredible, slapstick stuff, when you consider the situation when Trump took over.

There are people out there who think it's ridiculous to say that killing 100,000 Palestinians and expelling 100,000s more from their land is a genocide, but that describing people coming to your country to work and start a family as genocide is totally reasonable.

Trump has just disclosed, without prompting, that the US Military committed a war crime - literally just to brag & make his Republican audience laugh about unnecessarily killing 100+ Iranians instead of capturing them.
