I know I’m supposed to say this but these journals really are lovely. You get to support physical media, independent media, *and* you don’t even have to read anything from me in it because there’s half a dozen other, brilliant pieces of long form games writing in there too!

This argues that we should not give away our creative industries' output to US tech companies.

It seems obvious when you say it, doesn't it.

Press Association comment from Quakers in Britain

This evening, for the second time in a year, the Metropolitan Police raided a Quaker Meeting House and arrested a number of young nonviolent activists who were meeting there on the grounds that they were conspiring to commit a criminal act.

The room in Westminster Quaker Meeting House was let to Take Back Power to hold nonviolent direct action training. Quakers support the principle of nonviolent direct action, which aims to protest without harming people.

Oliver Robertson, head of witness and worship for Quakers in Britain, said:

β€œFor Quakers, faith and action are inseparable. Peaceful protest, prayer and nonviolent action are integral parts of many Quakers' religious life.
β€œWhilst we take the planning of criminal acts very seriously, we believe that this incident is a deliberate targeting of committed young people who want to make our country a more equitable place. This raid is part of a systematic stifling of dissent.

β€œThat this is the second time in a year that the police have raided our meeting house dramatically illuminates the broader trend in the UK of cracking down on those who disagree with the government. The right to protest is fundamental to our democracy. It's a key part of how people make their voices heard between elections.”

Statement from @quaker.org.uk about tonight's police raid on Westminster Meeting House. Guys, I don't think they're buying the Met's line about it all being a cover for plotting "mass shoplifting"

Americans: we live in a fallen stateβ€”embroiled by sin, cheating, lying, and evil. You cannot trust anyone, not even those who claim to know you best

Canadians: I love my neighbors and my friends!

I know my geeks will love this. This is an arithmometer. It's your Texas Instruments digital calculator's great grandpappy. They started making these in the 1850s.

It's like googling "coca-cola" and getting a full page of ads for Pepsi. (Of course, you get zero sponsored ads in front of either of those!)

Fair enough, get the sponsored results if I do a generic "tree surgeon near me" search, but if i *specifically* search for the bad pun? Fuck you, capitalism.

04.03.2026 09:55 πŸ‘ 24 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I find it outrageous that googling the company name of our local tree surgeon, who rightfully uses a terrible pun as the name of his company, puts two other tree surgeons ahead of him in the results. This surely means that they have used the name of his company as key words in the google ads?

🚨 It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work.

This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public.

Please spread the word.

It occurs to me that if the government did force UK writers to hand over their work to the big AI companies, that would now among other things mean contributing to the development of US advanced weapon systems.

I haven't done shading in my sketches for more than 25 years. Always felt like it could put the lines at risk of becoming unreadable. It is strange how we creatively change over time.

Again contact MP’s, tell organisations that represent creative groups and industry’s and share the word. This stuff passes so much easier with apathy and giving up at the hint of any news like this. Don’t let the billionaire running these companies go without a fight.

Draw Maps, Leave Blanks (Dungeon World) with Tim Denee β€” Dice Exploder How detailed of maps, and how big of blanks?

This week on Dice Exploder I've got @olddog.games on talking Blades '68, Dungeon World, and "draw maps leave blanks". How much should you define about your game in advance - as a player, as a GM, as a designer? Tim's smart!
