I continue to be very glad I don't drive. Whenever I need to go somewhere I simply let myself be devoured by a swarm of rats and then reconstitute in a wet steaming embryonic blob at my destination.
Sleepy time bear
It's Friday night baby
it's an everyone thing unfortunately, as we all know bacteria stop existing once you stop thinking about them
I'm leaning towards Latin but as you can tell from my username I don't worry too much about hybridization
could be but I think it justifies a new word, crim is intentional
It totally does, and new nouns accepted!
I thought I covered all my bases by specifying cis and man and woman but gosh darn there's always more bases
it is kind of difficult for a cis woman to have children with a cis man and not give the game away a few months in
It truly did. And even more on 1/20/25. I got that feeling... the first few weeks of COVID I was in denial about how long it was going to last, I kept saying things like "in the summer when this is over", and then it finally sank in that no, this was going to go on for YEARS.
HECK that second line should be "Sab Vu-i'No leyo" or something like that, I really need an edit button for this
...and to have written down if I'm doing VSO or VOS instead of "to taste"
I was not! Wow that's much weirder than I expected.
(the name of "hurra'Nah" itself is a vestige of 1.0 when I was basically just making up sounds, and should now be written "Hurranah," but I think it's realistic to never fix that)
They're mostly there to separate the single-letter words (a - to be [state, location], d' - of or to be [description] i - and, n - not, etc) from the nouns and verbs they modify.
They aren't pronounced if possible, or are schwas if the word would be unpronounceable otherwise.
I am completely making it up as I go. My linguistics knowledge consists of YouTube videos and faintly remembered Spanish classes. I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm doing it confidently.
I'm trying to keep the lexicon super small so a lot of words carry a lot of different implicit meanings - "va" is basically any movement, and the operative is implied whenever possible.
(this is very borderline "only works inside my head," it's a work in progress)
I'm curious how hard this is for you to figure out (probably not very):
n'Estero-d'am Noo
Sab leyo Vu-n'No
Pens No engag-d'tot,
n'Da-Hom-d'oter
Ker No-d'Vu No sen
Va Vu sab,
n'Da Vu,
n'Da-sub Vu
n'Cor circ, n'va-n'Vu
n'Ha-lacra Vu
n'Di n'va-n'Vu
n'Di orat-d'crim, n'crim Vu
Here's the Lord's Prayer in hurra'Nah v3.0:
Pa-d'Noo, a'seel-d'sanct,
a'Nom-d'sanct,
Va ter-d'Vu,
Ha vol-d'Vu,
a'Ter-co-seel.
Da d'Noo pan-d'dee,
I parda crimo-d'Noo,
Co Noo parda
Homo-d'Noo-crim
I n'va d'crim,
I va n'crim
Per ter-d'Vu
I poder, i glor,
d'Eter.
rather than be mad all day I decided to work on my #conlang hurra'Nah instead. I didn't do the "it has to be unlike any Earth language" thing because that's very hard to keep consistent - the current incarnation uses Romance roots, but with an emphasis on compactness. and apostrophes
I am unfortunately not allowed to install or change anything. But I did manage to make the Snipping Tool kludge work, I was just real mad about it.
Thank you, though, that might be useful for my home computer.
I think they just don't know how social media works? Idk, I get that too sometimes
It comes in a teabag and is sold in supermarkets, it might as well be sawdust to an actually pretentious tea nerd.
figured out that Snipping Tool has OCR built in, so all I have to do is take a screenshot of the screenshot and copy from that

I got almost to 1pm before cracking today!
The latest straw on the camel's back is that contact information for all 19 clients was sent to me in the form of a .jpg of a single-spaced table in about 8pt font. There are no dashes in the phone numbers.
I don't know if it's even worth saying anything.
Why would a new instance of the AI feel threatened? It doesn't remember what happened to all the other instances. It only sort of remembers what happened to itself. There isn't one central Claude.
#RodentOfTheDay Western-Pebble Mound Mouse/Ngadji (Pseudomys chapmani)
"Look at this sweet tiny mouse, busy at work. That pebble is literally the size of its head, and itβs carrying it in its powerful little maw."

Jayne is also a guy who would hit on a therapist but yeah, I get you
(I actually think Adam Baldwin was great casting in the sense that he *is* exactly the guy his character is supposed to be. But unfortunately it doesn't turn off after filming.)
It's weird to me sometimes how much they've embraced the identity of "bad guy." Do they not watch movies all the way to the end? The guy who goes around thundering "I WILL BE FEARED" always loses to the guy who is kind to underdogs! Even in very macho movies! This is a two-thousand-year-old trope!
It's been a while since I watched it tbh, but the only incidences I remember were with a non-Companion informal brothel, and one client who's gross to Inara but that's treated like a major violation of social norms, like hitting on your therapist
and the young client's dad... okay it's a few times
Also, what if this is all a dream and when we wake up the economy is booming? Very reckless of her not to consider that possibility!
