Aargh one of my petty grievances. i Canโ€™t say Iโ€™ve ever sat through a long movie and thought, gee I donโ€™t see how they could have told that story in less time.

Our govt puts our service people in danger, physical and moral, when they post them to US ships.

In the family i came from there was a lot of talking but not a lot of listening.
If you talked about having negative emotions, you got shut down.

Three Australians were onboard US submarine that sank Iranian warship, PM says Anthony Albanese confirms ADF members were on vessel but says โ€˜no Australian personnelโ€™ took part in attacks on Iran

He actually said Australians being on the sub is "one of the big pluses behind the Aukus arrangements". What the fuck are we doing

Free-roaming lobbyists in Australian parliament could face tighter restrictions, Albanese says Prime minister outlines โ€˜securityโ€™ review of conditions for coveted orange passes that allow unrestricted access

Australians really dislike the unfettered access lobbyists have to politicians in Parliament House. Every day Parliament sits, hundreds of lobbyists roam its halls. We can't know which Ministers they meet with, or how they influence government decision-making.

Parts of outback Australia have received well over a year's worth of rainfall during the last few weeks, thanks to a series of tropical lows over northern and central areas.

I feel a bit bad for Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the UN and no one pays any attention to what you say at all.

My parents are good parents and did their best. Neither of the ever said they loved me, they just showed me.
I tell my kids I love them all the time. I hope they think
I show them too ( I do by best).

100% we are being subjected to a softening up campaign and the changes in question will
Be so lame you will wonder why they bothered.
Iโ€™ll be elated to be shown to be wrong.

The point of all thisโ€ฆ my parents had the same aged care plan as your Mum. But sometimes the reality takes over. And accepting that things arenโ€™t going the way you plan is painful for all.

25.02.2026 20:21 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

It took another health crisis for Dad to bring it to a head. He was referred to aged care. Heโ€™s been there two
Months and is doing better than he was at home. And Mum much less stressed.

25.02.2026 20:16 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Then of course both parents have chronic ailments. Lob in Dads terminal illness diagnosis, complications with treatment, resulting frailty, inability of Mum to
Manage Dadโ€™s condition on her own due to her own mobility issues. Dad determined to stay home. Mum at breaking point. Not fun.

25.02.2026 20:13 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

It took a long time for mum to accept home care. So from first broaching the subject, to acceptance to dealing with the kafkaesque nightmare (that was my job) that is aged care to actually having supportโ€ฆthree years. This is in western Sydney. So keep that timeline in mind.

Thatโ€™s what my parents reckoned and it hasnโ€™t gone to plan. They are shocked, shocked I tell you!
