terrain tool now has realtime shadows. and more realistic water simulation. and its all still a single 2D texture.

i played this on a pico-8 handheld. its great

i added an adjustable pixel shader to my terrain tool.

i also made coloring the heightmap its own shader. so i can make different color palettes to swap out. and adjust the heights different things occur at. (like water level. grass. etc)

still have a lot of work to do, but runs really well on my decade old thinkpad.

playing nier replicant feels like playing 6 different games. they're just throwing you in different genres till you enjoy yourself 😌

yeah. its a 2d bones/mesh deformation animation software. its free and you can use it in your browser. so it seemed like a good place to start.

trying out #rive for the first time. never did any 2d animation that wasnt frame by frame. i like this.
