After weeks of seemingly endless rain on the Sussex coast, I managed to catch a clear morning on Wednesday at Cuckmere Haven. This was one of the last mornings before the sun starts rising inland behind the cliffs - a quiet, rare window of light, and a welcome break in the weather!

Making the most of some recent winter light on the South Downs. These three photos show the rolling hills never disappoint when the sun eventually comes out.

Sun rising over Brighton Palace Pier as a wave crashes onto the beach under a beautiful sunrise. November entry for Brighton Calendar 2026
One of the simple joys of winter mornings on the south coast – that moment when the sun breaks the horizon, turning sea and sky to gold.

Before all the rain lashed down on the south coast this week, there were a couple of lovely evenings accompanied by some spring low tides. This was from Monday evening on Brighton beach.
