Danielle Smith sure has a unique definition of physical conservatism.
Hell fucking yeah.
Never saw this coming, but really excited that @fabulavancouver.bsky.social would throw her hat in the ring!
I am really trying to do this, too.
I had never thought of it in those terms, but βmusical overconsumptionβ is such a powerful phrase.
Some of the best arguments about economic productivity I have ever heard, so simply explained.
Anyone have a Canadian-only version of this?
This is really cool. I like this.

There's a great Motion from @lucymaloney.bsky.social and @seanorr.bsky.social coming to Council this Wednesday, March 11th to improve bike share in the region! (full text: council.vancouver.ca/20260311/doc...)
As card-carrying bike share enthusiasts, we are excited. Here's how to support:

Mayor Ken Sim has said he was shown a photo that led to him making a false accusation against Coun. Sean Orr.
There IS a fake AI image that came out around Christmas that sort of matches the allegations. @kehyslop.bsky.social asked Sim about this yesterday. #vanpoli

Within this story from @kehyslop.bsky.social and @jenstden.bsky.social: Former Green councillor Adrianne Carr says she resigned in 2025 in part because of remarks Sim made to her during an in-camera meeting

This is fascinating. I was literally just looking at Canada's rankings in the Edelman trust surveys this morning and we're more middle of the pack there.
You could read this as: Canadians are mistrustful of their systems but trustful of one another? (per the above survey)
On this we very much agree.
Even if one accepts that US crypto-war aims are legitimate β the hegemon wants regime change βwanton killing outside of the immediate objectives is not even conducive to said aims.
If America wants a war, it should declare one β and face the full consequences of doing so.
Maybe Iβm misunderstanding you, but it sounded like you were saying the US acted in good faith by waiting for the ship to leave Indian territorial waters and then attacking.
My point was that at no point had or has the US declared war.
When did the US declare war again? Must have missed the announcement.
One bit of good news in a sea of postponements by the city of Vancouver is this:
"Staff have conclusively determined that under the Vancouver Charter, Bitcoin is not an allowable investment asset for the City, and therefore recommends that this work be concluded"
Several previously passed road safety motions are recommended to be postponed or scaled back at the March 10th Vancouver Council mtg, "with the objective of freeing up staff capacity in order to better implement Councilβs priorities"
This is what happens when you starve the city budget.

I *hate* betting, but this is a fascinating straw poll of peopleβs perceptions of reliability
I really like @himself.bsky.socialβs thread.
LLMβs are gaining traction because they *work well enough* (and sometimes really well) to do certain kinds of tasks.
Thatβs why people are increasingly adopting them.
Creating desperately needed safeguards means understanding whatβs really going on.
"The Russian negotiating position is based on a bluff and a lie. The bluff is that the Russians will overwhelm Ukraine and take what they want anyway. The lie is that they will be satisfied with less than what they continually demand... (1/2) wapo.st/3MHUlAh
By Christmas now, I hear
Iβm sure there is room for innovation here, but I am not sold this is worth spending a huge amount of money over catenary approaches.
Public Service Announcement: When the price of gasoline jumps this week, remember it was refined from oil (mostly Canadian) produced weeks ago, only 2% of which comes from the Middle East. It's a policy choice, not 'market forces', that explains why you'll pay more (and oil profits will soar). /2
Light, Air, and a Social Stair.
The "Vancouver Stair" is an open and cross vented single stair with the dwelling entrances and elevator opening to each stair landing.
No dark long units, no internal bedrooms.
Green space similar to the houses next door.

Look at this beautiful lilβ baby π
Is it really so hard for Mark Carney to say something like this instead of constantly defending US breaches of international law?
This is a fascinating occurrence, much like BCβs experience of coal over the past decade:
Structurally declining demand thatβs good for profits in the short term, but drives people away from the product in the long-term.
Iβlll be watching Chinese ZEV exports closely over the next few quarters
Canadian, American, Israeli, and Iranian flags ad protest in David Lam park
βThank you Trumpβ sign at anti-Ayatollah rally
Walked past the huge Iranian rally at David Lam park. Must be close to 2,000 people there.
Seeing American and Israeli flags intermixed with the old royal flag of Iran is a stark reminder of how complex the situation is β and how readily disappointed anyone looking did a βquick fix will be.
I think about this Tony Benn speech much more than I used to
