The Family Preservation and Accountability Act passed out of the full Senate this week, reminding all of us that compromise and bipartisanship are possible.
Hundreds of lives are at risk in the LMDC facility every single hour of every day.
Today, the facility is 219 people over its capacity of 1373 people.
We’re proud to stand with our friends and partners at the Fairness Campaign - rallying for equal rights, health equity, fairness, and dignity in legislation. 
As a community, we must come together and demand that all actors in our criminal legal system do everything they can to ease the burden on the jail and save lives.
The Family Preservation and Accountability Act (SB 122) has PASSED out of the Kentucky Senate and now moves to the House!
This is a true example of bipartisan legislation designed to keep Kentucky families together!

STANFORD, KY: The birthing unit at Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford recently announced its permanent closure, forcing expectant mothers to seek services in other cities.
This closure is part of a trend of small and rural communities losing local access to care.
"The Marshall Project found more than 70,000 cases referred to law enforcement over allegations of substance use during pregnancy — and that’s a significant undercount."
“I know there’s different feelings when people get locked up and all that,” she said, “but they’re still people.”

And it advanced. But here is the problem.
For too many Kentuckians, this bill flips the script. It asks marginalized communities to do the surviving so the legislation can do the advancing.
