Lawmakersβ concerns about China manipulating content purportedly motivated (in part) the law requiring TikTokβs sale to US owners. But Trump-allied investors, a US govβtβappointed board seat, and US govβt oversight of the algorithm rebuild raise concerns about far-right influence over the new app.
The preliminary TikTok deal announced by Trump in the last few days would create a new US-only version of the app and license the algorithm from ByteDance. I shared thoughts about what could happen in an article published in the @theconversation.com
