Ard Ri Shawl
Ard RΓ β or βHigh Kingβ in Irish β is a celebration in colour and texture. Itβs 208 cm wide (thatβs 82 inches), and it is so, so easy to adapt it to make it bigger or smaller.
Editing does wonders, pattern testers are the best, but sometimes a little polish years later by the designer can make all the difference.
What do you think of my remake so far?
Have you crocheted Ard Ri already? You can review the pattern on my site.

Thatβs the great thing about getting to dip back into one of my greatest hits; I can improve the quality of the work now that time has passed and I have a little distance from it.

Progress on the #ArdRiShawl remake is coming along, folks! And, luckily, Iβm taking notes as I go so I can edit the pattern a little to clarify a few points.

But if you have some DK to spare and a 6 mm hook, you can wait the weather out while making this double-wrap shoulder warmer.

If they equate "inauthentic behaviour" with inactivity, then I'm inauthentic about 50% of the day. π

Oh, wow, I'd be screwed too.
My parents would regularly produce lists of new vocab for my sister and I to learn over dinner.
Latin, generational slang, colloquialisms, obsolete words.
But when I think about it, what they were essentially doing was turning us into organic LLMs, one meal at a time.

A aprtial screen shot of an email that reads "Hello Aoibhe NΓ β€οΈ Tunisian Crochet Patterns,
Your account, AoibheNi, was detected by our systems and automatically suspended for violating the X Rules.
Specifically, for:
Violating our rules against inauthentic behaviors.
You may not use our services to engage in inauthentic activity that undermines the integrity of X."
huh.
Apparently, not using my Twitter account for a couple of years, not logging in, and not touching that fascist, hateful platform with a ten foot barge pole consitiutes "inauthentic behaviour".
Seems about right.
After all, I'd hate to undermine Twitter's "integrity". Snort.

Hah!!! Well, even if your dog is way too busy zooming around to have time to learn to sit politely during the day, I bet they'll at least enjoy snoozing on it in the evening, when they finally run out of steam.

It's all double crochet, and there's a trick to keeping it flat that goes beyond the logical maths.
And yep, it's multiple stands. A handful of yarns held together that range anywhere from chunky to laceweight, depending on what I have to hand.

A crochet mat on a yellow wood floor. It's made up of random gradients of red, orange and pink yarns, with a darker grey border.
The kitchen cabinets in the background are teal, and I feel that's an important thing to point out because I painted them recently.
Every now and then, I accumulate enough yarn balls, half balls, and random impulse purchases to crochet into a floor mat. π§Ά
This is my latest, and I adore it.
Does anyone else do this as a destash exercise?

Ard Ri (gold and purple) is particularly distinctive, because that gold yarn (with brassy, pink undertones) was only dyed for a very short time and so is quite rare.

All right, crafty folks.
I need everyone who sees this to keep a look out for the following shawls. They were lost by FedEx on the way to Barcelona Knits, and have been declared "unrecoverable".

A big, black great dane relaxing in the sunshine, looking towards the camera. Behind her is a small, walled garden.
A bit black great dane lounging in the back of a red van. She's lying on a flat grey mat and is wearing a red lead. In the background a very proud woman is smiling from her spot in the driver's seat.
Not pictured: This is the first time our big dog was brave enough to hop into the van and relax. It was a very proud moment.
A blonde-haired woman is sitting on the stoop of a small wooden garden shed. She is barefoot and looking to her left at a big black great dane who is up-side-down, legs dangling in the air and sunning her lovely pink belly.
Both the dog and the woman seem very happy with how their day is progressing.
A small, blonde-haired woman and a big black great dane dog nap in the sunshine. The woman's hand is relaxed against the dog's chin. The dog's back is pressed up against her front so that they're spooning.
Dappled light covers their faces from a tree overhead (unpictured)
It's almost one week since our beautiful dog Korra crossed the rainbow bridge, and the reality of those words still leaves me utterly bereft.
I'm unmoored, at a total loss.
She was everything; a big silly goof, a philosopher, a shiny new soul we were entrusted with on earth.
My heart is broken.
