finally...a rare Coca-Cola W. it's the same cherry Coke but it's the same smooth cream taste from Holiday Vanilla, but they blend so well it's somehow better than the previous Cherry Vanilla from 2018!

If you are dead set on leaving Discord for good, but want to keep that Discord-shaped hole in your community, use Root.

But, If you are not hard-pressed to leave, I would say wait until either Root or Stoat can support more features and larger file sizes.

Overall, Root is a more feature rich alternative to Discord, but unfortunately neither Root or Stoat have all of Discord's feature sets, such as large file sizes (despite the fact you have to pay Discord for that...)

both can use custom icons. Root also has a different interface, using a "tabs" system similar to a web browser. you have a main server library that can be used in different tabs.

Root is planning on letting devs make apps and bots when that becomes available.

Stoat does not have screen share and camera share, but are still being worked on.

Root already has both, and has more server customization than Discord does.

Text and voice channels have the same permission settings, however-

Stoat seems to have more cosmetic options as you can choose whatever color you want in any contrast and tone, along with offering multiple emoji sets and a small font selection, but the experience is very bare bones, with nothing but text and voice.

i decided to try and use both Stoat and Root for a bit, and here is what i could personally gather:

Made some art based on a Sonic fan game that got announced recently.

a in-progress image of me recreating a sprite can from their 2021 rebrand presentation. the recreation is barebones, with the only progress made on the bottom rim, with the same shine and shadow depth as the can.

i may attempt this one again. i never really got far into it because i spent so long on the rim i forgot to save and it crashed 😭
