I love how glowy and pretty my skin is right before and during ovulation, but then as soon as the egg isn't fertilized, mother nature is like, "Bitch, here's a pimple and a hair on your chinny chin chin, you no baby making bitch!" ๐ญ

Promo graphic showing book cover of A Fragile Thing on the right, with other shots of swinging pocket watch and misty, deserted street. Blurb for book on the left: One of the most versatile and talented horror writers of our day, Stephanie Ellis shines again, this time with A Fragile Thing, a darkly chilling novel of madness, mind games, and manipulation. Channelling Jekyll and Hyde in Jack the Ripperโs Whitechapel, where science and spiritualism seduce the upper classes and the streets stink of nightwalkers and nightcrawlers, ambitious Isaac Bercow attempts to root out the shadowy manifestations that plague his own psyche. Blurring the lines between illusion and reality, one thing is clear, Ellis dangles our darkest fears before us with mesmerising skill.โโLee Murray, five-time Bram Stoker Awardยฎ-winning author of Grotesque: Monster Stories
Thank you, Gree!

Thank you for the action packed questions #HorrorWritersChat and @greethewriter.bsky.social!
My collection= guts, creatures, gore, action. I put the motion in the ocean of horror. Come for a swim, but keep your head above water. Actually stay out of the water. ;)

I recognize the eyes and limbs as those I loved, reanimated by whatever evil made this thing. I've run my whole life, from everything, including the sea green iris's rolling around on the left of this beast. So, I swing until it drops. I take the eyes back. I'll never run again.

And yeah, lots of these type of things occur in my own work. A lot of 80's horror influence!
Ooh boy! That giant big booby mama creature thing from the end of Dead Alive is great, as is the rat monkey--LOL! But there's sooo many! The goose-necked Deadite from Evil Dead 2 is badass! The werewolf in AWIL is special, I love it! Creepy wall goblin from Cat's Eye! Too many!
#HorrorWritersChat
I freakin' love werewolf stories! And good song!
I'd say most of my stories are in this vein. Gore, guts, action! My favorite archetype in the genre would be the monsters, because writing the monsters is fun! Creating the moment in which they're about to unleash is adrenaline! Turn on some punk rock and let the words riiiiip!

In my top 5 fave horror movies, always. Predictable or not, it has earned its place in our hearts.
Made me cry ugly tears at the end!
Sinners RULES! The music alone is worth the price of admission.
It's good too!
AGREE! Down With The Sickness redone by Richard Cheese is perfect too. Lol.
Hi, I'm Vivian, a weirdo who writes horror. My favorite piece of action horror is possibly the first scenes in the remake of Dawn of the Dead. But also, Bone Tomahawk, Train to Busan, Evil Dead, and many others. SO much good stuff!

Sometimes I get the feminine urge to rate my own book, but stop myself because, I mean, art is subjective, man.

All my adoration and love to ALL women in horror!
๐ฌ๏ธLike dandelions our words float
in the wind once they're wrote
traveling through and through
seen by many or seen by few
we still have hope
they'll be rooted firmly
in others' thoughts, planted always
just like they ought. ๐ฑ๐
Celebrate @stephellis.bsky.social and all women in horror, always. xx

Fragile words that cut skin deep,
a woman's stories who haunt your sleep.
The crafty wordsmith who spins her webs,
no matter what the flow or ebb.
The tides go in and tides go out,
a storyteller who leaves no doubt.
A friend, a mentor, and so much more,
a constant writer whom we all adore.
Not long now!
Kind words from @catherinemccarthy.bsky.social, author of Mosaic & Immortelle.
Oozing with Victorian Gothic, A Fragile Thing toys with the Faustian bargain and leaves you asking, Who is monster, and who is man? Mesmerism, hypnotism, mind controlโthis one has it all!

Graphic showing cover of Vivian Kasley's All's Well That Ends Well and a found poem beside it: Beneath Sleep Beneath sleep is the haunt born of cold, whipped by nightmares. Peace consumed in the mirror of motionless life, the sigh of hated dark.
Today's #WIHM author is someone who's not long published her debut collection (via Brigids Gate Press).
This found poem for Vivian R Kasley, used the blurb and first lines from her stories.
