Hi guys - we're back! Sorry for the holiday!
I can't lie - I'm pretty excited about this year's Frontline Seminar at www.stowmaries.org.uk. Details here: www.stowmaries.org.uk/event/stow-m...
Thanks! It was really great to be able to cook in the cottage then sleep there at night, (downstairs). So toasty! The men responded well to the food, too. its great to show that #WW1 at a UK training site was filling & tasty. Not a tin of Bully Beef in sight - Soups, Cottage Pie, Sausages, Cake...
Just back after an immersive #WW1 weekend at @chilternoam.bsky.social . Top fun representing a Gallery Killick of the RND on loan to the 10th Essex Regiment, training to return to France. Lots of period food, a few beers and GALLONS of Tea!
All settled in for the night at @chilternoam.bsky.social , just need to grab the fire guard. A weekend of #WW1 #Livinghistory awaits! An immersive weekend in 1916 as a Leading Seaman of the #RoyalNavy ( RND, just before the Army took over) in the Galley!
StowMaries.org.uk getting some sun. Just in time for the volunteer recruitment session! #ww1 #volunteer #museum
Any #WW1 #Aviation nerds out there? Check this out..

Lots of planning going on for our #Air events at www.stowmaries.org.uk. We're hoping we might see a return visit of one very popular item!
@almurray.bsky.social - recognise this beauty?! #WW2 @royalnavy.bsky.social
I just listened to the latest episode of @kermodeandmayo.bsky.social 's Take. @kermodemovie.bsky.social and @simonmayo.bsky.social 's comments on the Orange Wotsit's Handmaiden and her movie made me cheer. I will not name it - nor pay to see it, for the same reasons. Tinkety Tonk.
On April 18 and 19 April, I get to indulge my passion for #LivingHistory. Myself and 9 chums will be presenting our interpretation of a section of junior ratings (Killick in charge) en route to rejoining the Royal Naval Division in April 1916.

Thanks, @iancastleraids.bsky.social . We're glad to have your support, as always!
I am very happy to be taking part in the www.essexcommunityfoundation.org.uk CommuniTea event on Friday 6th February.
We'll be exploring volunteering for a #charity like www.stowmaries.org.uk . Why is it so important?

As an independent #museum, www.stowmaries.org.uk relies heavily on events income. They take a lot of planning (www.stowmaries.org.uk/events) and need to bring in wide audiences. Today - I've been focusing on one of our Air events, a #LivingHistory event and a motorbike show.

I have always been fascinated by Annette Carson's work on Hys Grace, and was lucky enough to be involved in the reburial, personally. Having spent some years learning 15th Century fencing techniques - and later teaching them - in armour and out, I can only imagine carnage of that day.
I had a pair of B2s made up for me and use three pairs of NATO woven puttees stitched together. Far, far better than any repro puttees. I avoid using original kit where I can.
Mine is WPG.
As I recover from a very nasty chest infection, I have taken the opportunity to replace the buttons on my 1902SD with #RoyalNavy ones. This is for my 1916 LS presentation. #WW1 #RND
Further digging shows that support troops wore the Div patch like this, so my SB idea holds water...
Thanks!
A fascinating image (for me, anyway!). The Royal Naval Division, well known for its uniform shenanigans, does it again.
It looks like a SB party. I think it must be post-May 1916 (63rd Div patches on) - they don't have Battalion Brass yet. Curved and Straight RND titles, no colour flash.

These were glove inserts. Not really reliable, especially at 20,000ft in an open cockpit!
Over a #Coffee my mind wanders to #WW1 #LivingHistory. Some new shoulder brass has arrived, but I'm struggling to find 16mm brass KC RN buttons for a 1916 Royal Naval Division impression I am delivering in April. ( I need 6 for my SD pockets and epaulettes). Any ideas?

Another regular day. Finalising the Marketing Strategy for Www.stowmaries.org.uk , using theaudienceagency.org/en/what-we-d... ..while penning another #Funding application for an exhibition... writing an impact report for a previous grant..while balancing #Events planning.
Waiter? Bring me #Coffee!
We have four different buildings that are the sole surviving examples of their type in the world. All straight out of the Royal Engineers Constructions, European Theatre, 1913-1919. Plus we have 19 other buildings!
