The Tide is Coming In: A Month Until Wyrd & Wonder ARTWORK CREDITMermaid by Yuri Arcurs Photography Though I have lost all track of time, reliable sources tell me that we have entered the month of April, and in my corner of the world spring is wellโ€ฆ

Wondering what weโ€™re planning to get up to this watery #WyrdAndWonder? @queenzucchini.bsky.social has the details of our buddy reads, read-alongs, challenge and inspirations!

I can move on my own again! And can't say I'm not grateful for a forced rest day without the little one. Still scary to lose so much control of my body movement though

Hurt my back yesterday and itโ€™s the worst itโ€™s ever been. Canโ€™t get up or even roll over in bed without support and itโ€™s so weird to feel so helpless. Trying to see the positives as being able to spend all day in bed, read, and crack on with writing butโ€ฆ ouch!

GREENTEETH by Molly Oโ€™Neill โ€“ย Review The nitty-gritty: A delightfully unique fantasy tale, Greenteeth combines richly developed folkloric world-building with lovable, flawed characters. A delight from start to finish. โ€œโ€˜There is some hope then?' I asked. 'You remember what I said the first time we met, Jenny? There is always hope.'" I came very close to not requesting Greenteeth, and Iโ€™m so glad that didnโ€™t happen.

Just started reading my ARC of Pathfinding by @kerriandrewsuk.bsky.social and I cannot put it down! What a beautifully crafted book!

I reread The Hunger Games not that long ago and they really stand up as brilliant works of fiction - haven't read the other two series, and also read The Giver way too long ago! I'll be keen to see your thoughts on them all!

Quarterly Check-In: End of Year 2024 Another year has come to an end, which is a crazy thought. I do always like the turning of the year, and I know theyโ€™re a time measuring concept that we humans created but I think we all beneโ€ฆ

A look back at the last three months of reading, as well as my favourite books of 2024, and a glance ahead at what Iโ€™m hoping for 2025! Happy New Year folks โœจ

Iโ€™m never very good at completing this challenge but always love the idea!

Thank you โค๏ธ Iโ€™m sure itโ€™ll also take time to rebuild the community on a new platform, so hopefully the next few months sees an improvement!

Hello Womble! Iโ€™m reaching the end of three reads, all great ones to end the year on: Nexus by Yuval Noah Harari, The Book that Wouldnโ€™t Burn by Mark Lawrence (excellent audiobook), and Voyage of the Damned by Frances White - I suspect Iโ€™ll finish that last one today, as I canโ€™t put it down!

Itโ€™s bedtime but Iโ€™m halfway through Voyage of the Damned by @franceswrites.bsky.social and I cannot stop reading

Can only speak for myself but could be a wider issue - Iโ€™m so burnt out by other things that even just occasionally posting my own stuff is hard, I donโ€™t often get time to look at what other bloggers are doing atmโ€ฆ I try and share and interact when I can!

I loved Sea of Souls and canโ€™t wait to dive into this stunning sequel

If you are out shopping today, remember to be kind to the staff you encounter.
Thank you.

Probably a little bit too excited about the fact that you can now pause current reads on the StoryGraph ๐ŸŽ‰

Letting my mind rest from absorbing other peopleโ€™s stories has triggered new ideas for my own storiesโ€ฆ who knew that actually worked! (I did, but reading is so fun)

The Italian translation of Ten Low (Ultima fermata prima del vuoto) is out now from Moscabianca, and it's the work of SUCH a dream team: Nova on illustration, Tiffany Vecchietti on translation... Author jackpot.

3 French Hens for the Elven-kings under the sky,
7 Swans A-swimming for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
9 Ladies Dancing for the Mortal Men, doomed to die,
And a Partridge in a Pear Tree for the Dark Lord on his dark throne,
In the Land of Christmas where the rest of the gifts lie.

Review: Extremophile by Ian Green Charlie and Parker are punks by night, biohackers by day, living in the stuttering decay of near-future climate-collapse London. They pay for the beer they donโ€™t steal with money from their sโ€ฆ

Couldnโ€™t sleep last night so I decided to finally write up my review of Extremophile by Ian Green - an excellent book that has been stuck in my brain since I finished it

Having said that I did *have* to start the audiobook of The Book That Wouldnโ€™t Burn because my hold of it finally came through on BorrowBox and I am loving it so far!

Trying something new this December and not starting any new books until after the 25th to give myself time to finish up those longer ongoing reads and to hopefully review a few stragglers before yearโ€™s end, as well as reset my brain for writingโ€ฆ itโ€™s hard to resist temptation but feels good too!

Two of my favourite series to listen to are The Rivers of London books by Ben Aaronovitch and the Paladin books by T. Kingfisher

My brother was kind of the same, he went from rereading Wimpy Kid books to being obsessed with Dracula and then discovered books by Amor Towels and realised he really likes contemporary fiction, so that could be a route to pursue? Also Donna Tartt

Currently screaming my way through the last 100 pages of On Vicious Worlds by Bethany Jacobs - how could I have doubted it would be less twisty and intense than These Burning Stars?? #SciFiMonth
