A wolf awakens to a fresh coat of ice and snow. A sight they had never seen, in a place they had hardly been. They turn to look out the window, one hand on their headphones as if to raise them from their head and listen instead to the pitter-patter of sky sugar on their roof. The sun peeks out from the distant horizon. Its light is only vaguely visible past the fog. The moment is punctuated by the track that plays in their cassette player—冬の夜 by Akio Niitsu—all the while the room and its intricacies fade into the sensory background.
