Such a good day today seeing Lassen was just fabulous. He promises to be back soon for a real good catch up. Tonight I’m going to trawl through some of Robs pictures that his dad left him. See if I can still put names to a few blank faces.

It’s his family name but we are related. Yes he is related to Anders and interestingly he’s related to Alice we just worked out.

This morning I caught someone walking down the driveway and shouted could I help them. He turned and shouted “not dead yet then?”.

Lassen is my oldest friend. We are related way back and whenever I went to Norway we would spend weeks together usually in trouble. I can’t believe he’s here.

I do like a leg of slow cooked lamb but have you seen the price of it compared to other meats. No wonder people aren’t buying it. I do feel sorry for sheep farmers. Most of them are now operating at a loss compared to organised sheep factories and foreign imports.

But think of all those tax dollars spent in re arming. You need to move away from the war based economy.

Bit of a fun day today weather wise. Foggy first off and then got quite warm and sunny. We had lunch on the patio. Then it got overcast and a bit dreek as they say and I’ve just gone down to the stables and it’s snowing.

Jim and his family will continue to live in the same house and his children will stay at the same school. We’ve had a long and frank discussion today about the farm’s future and I’m pleased we are both wanting to achieve the same things. A future for our children and a good place to live and work.

Jim was a struggling farmer next door to us. He and his dad both farmed the same land but in this economic climate Jim could no longer manage the day to day problems and cash flow of the farm. This week Jim sold the farm to us and I’m delighted to say he will be our new farm manager.

My wife is a marvel. I saw her yesterday with all those sandwiches and mums sausage rolls. Today it’s been a full English and a mum special of roasted venison and all the veg, potatoes and Yorkshire puddings.

There’s an ugly rumour going round that the yanks have only been at peace for 16 years in their history. It’s pretty much true. Though in those years there were troop movements and skirmishes. Their whole economy is based on war. It’s what they do. Too much money in war.

This last few months this woman has changed my life in ways I could never have hoped for. It’s just an express train with her. It’s not a rollercoaster because there are never any downs.
