Using a tactical nuke would shatter the nuclear taboo and hand Russia the excuse to do the same in Ukraine. It would be catastrophically foolish. Which, given Trumpβs record of reckless decisions and zero strategic thinking... makes the fear disturbingly plausible.
I agree. Our allies deserve far better. But rebuilding those relationships will take years. Trust is hard to restore when one major U.S. party is actively hostile to the alliances and institutions that kept stability for decades. Allies now have to plan for America being unreliable.
The problem is the GOP wonβt turn on him until itβs far too late, arguably that moment has already passed. The damage to institutions and alliances that underpinned US security and prosperity is already severe. At this point the country may already be running on borrowed time.
