The stupid ass put tariffs on Canadian fertilizer, one of he staples of American farming.

So true! People tend to forget that, pre-Wenner, the charts (and radio stations) were totally ecumenical. The charts in Canada when I was born featured pop, country, folk, rock n’ roll, whatever people were listening to.

You’ll be tasting it for days. They’re not purchases, they’re investments.

If I’d been the reporter, I’ve replied with β€œChrist, not drapes again.” And probably gotten thrown out.

His pronunciation is a bit rusty, but the sentence is grammatically sound. (I live in Osaka). Folks over here were impressed though that he made the effort.

Restricting access to the Library, where Joseph Howe established freedom of the press in what became Canada.

Sorry. I knew that, but autocorrect thought otherwise. His wife was Jewish , but he wasn’t, although various sources incorrectly state he was.

And the actor who played Major Strasser was the brilliant Conrad Weidt, a German Jew who wasn’t about to do the Nazis any favors in his portrayal.

Engineer: the cup is too big.

I’ve always wanted to see Make Way for Tomorrow because it was the film adapted by Ozu (and his collaborator Noda) to make Tokyo Story.

Well, he made a living on Fox, which is the kind of low bar that wins limbo contests but not much else.

Different guy. Last week.

Some regrettable hair choices over the years, but…yes!

03.03.2026 02:47 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Master stroke.

Ten years on, I still expect to go home and see my grandmother sitting in her chair in the living room. Thinking of you, buddy.

Some years ago, their website allowed comments on news stories and programs, but the quality of 2/3 of them was of the β€œMansbridg is a fagit” level. Can’t imagine what it would be like now with the bots of today.

Great. It’s a wonderful book. Not looking for a fight (this ain’t Twitter), but I think you missed a chapter or two.

Except black folks. You’d better read the Caro book.

After all that, don’t go to Australia or your head will explode!

I just listened to that last night on my evening walk! Fantastic episode.

Me too, but the minute I’m out of the classroom, it’s favour, flavour and metre again. If I you ever catch me writing β€œdialogue” as β€œdialog,” it’s because of the autocorrect on this thing.

Only one country makes that fundamental error. The rest of us were taught correctly!

To me, it’s the Anti-clickbait, as I will go out of my way not to listen to anything containing That Voice.

On a related note, a friend has found me a good-condition Vince Guaraldi album and I’m happy, to say the least (I’ll be happier when I finally get my mitts on it!)

β€œCBC: PUBLIC TELEVISION…with commercials.”

Desshyo? (Japanese equivalent of β€œI know, right?”)

Born in the colony (now the Canadian province) of New Brunswick.

Total trash and I could live off it for weeks at a time.

Please tell me that this is a parody. My faith in humanity depends upon it.
