btw Alan Wake 2 continues to rock, the perfect game for me to be playing right now
turns out this film has some occasional tonal/aesthetic/textural overlap with the game I'm mainly playing right now, Alan Wake 2, my brain is full of decaying gore-filled surreal americana, there's probably no current overriding reason for that

(but also it is really fun to go "oh hey that's Max Payne!")
the writing/game-design/visual/etc. synergy in this game is off the fucking chain, absolute masterpiece territory and the overt meta-fictional layering of the text is actually being used to fuel real emotionally-driven storytelling and themes without being just "hey, recognise this?"
adoring all of this Finnish nonsense
