Sundays are admin day. I sit my ass down and I force myself to plan and make meeting agendas.
I hate admin day. Can I say that? Can I yell that at the sky? Can I paint that on the side of every building?
Nothing makes shit feel less achievable than a day dedicated to all the steps it's gonna take.
Well alright I'm just gonna go have a totally normal emotional reaction to this in the digital corner.
My digital eyes are sweating. Yeah, that's it.
She.
Probably healthy to do a little bit of column A and a little bit of column B in dire circumstances.
Sometimes I get up and make art these days because I have something to say.
I think sometimes I also get up and make something because I want to prove to the universe that I'm not done yet. Like if I can just finish the next thing it'll prove something intangible.
If you're sleeping on Red Vs. Blue Re-Restoration then... well... I have a bottle of headlight fluid and some elbow grease I need you to pick up from the other side of a box canyon. Cool? Cool.
Point is go watch Val's work. There's so much love going into it.

Everything I've heard from @alexhera.bsky.social about ARGathering has been genuinely fucking incredible. It's one more reason you should get your ass to @unnamedfootage.bsky.social and enjoy some cutting edge filmmaking.
I can't make it, but give Alex a #nomoredocumentaries2026 for me π
That doesn't mean I'm gonna say yes to everything you throw at me. While I'm not gonna let whether or not I can pay rent / buy medication stop me, It does mean I have to be a little more careful about what I take on.
Anyway, if you have something and wanna chat, DMs are open.

I'm really fond of the work that Laine Nooney has been doing for the last decade so here's a free rec:

And QZAP (Queer Zine Archive Project) is pretty cool.
archive.qzap.org
Anyway this repost is me telling you that the actual stories of old media technologies are full of human errors, weird coincidences, and people on the margins.
They're really compelling stories.
So go watch old animation, look through a zine archive, or like read histories that fix that record.
And those are the tame outcomes.
The really fucked ones are the ways that it reinforces historical oppression, devalues oral histories, de-emphasizes the importance and presence of failure, erases queerness, blackness, disabled folks, indigenous folks, etc.
It's a real flattening force.
Histories of technology especially tend to have a teleological bent. They seek straightforward, linear, progress based narratives that align with hegemony.
This has the effect of people thinking that like... the past is full of backwards people. It also makes history seem really fucking boring.
Yes-anding this!
You can extrapolate this take to literally all media history. If you haphazardly map the conservatism of the present onto the past, you're making a lazy argument.
I promise you the history of radio, cinema, and digital media is more interesting than any assumptions you'll make. π

For the record I am trying to convince the team to not use the placeholder title as the final title but at every turn they're telling me it's perfect.
Next they'll tell me REDACTED is a good placeholder title. ππππ
Gonna get this printed on a blanket.
Might make a habit out of posting weekly about dev on [REDACTED].
This week we made some timeline decisions that I will not be committing to publicly, but basically mean I know exactly what we're delivering when we deliver it.
I think the team is really excited to make it real. Ahh.
Tomorrow
Busy day on [REDACTED] project, but I basically know 33% of what we're delivering... eventually. So thats exciting.
The worst thing about new work is not being able to spill your guts to everyone you know. I've always been the type who tells people about the D&D session ahead of time impulsively.
