Sutton North's Cllr Ruth Dombey reminded us of our strong track record of not just managing our finances prudently but ensuring that we continue to provide great services focused on empowering people.
Leader of the Council Barry Lewis spoke about our bold, ambitious vision for a borough where we continue to support the most vulnerable and foster opportunity for everybody.
Lead Member for Resources Sunita Gordon introduced the budget by highlighting the values we have always taken to Sutton's finances - prudence, fairness and long term thinking.
Tonight, we have passed a budget that delivers Sutton's future.
Despite these uncertain economic times, the Sutton Lib Dems are always the ones fighting for the very best for Sutton.

This is what we will do - stand up against those who seek to divide us, and keep Sutton united behind tolerance and equality.
In these dark times, Sutton needs a firewall against rising hate and division. We will be that firewall.
And Deputy Leader Sam Martin hit out at the language of an “Island of Strangers” - and underscored how important it is that we build a firewall against hate and extremism.
And returning to Sutton West & East Cheam, Cllr Qasim Esak made an impassioned speech about the sacrifices his own family have made in defence of this country - our Commonwealth heritage proves “We are a nation shaped not by one people - but by many who believed in Britain.”
Sutton Central’s councillor Richard Choi reminded us all of the historic and moral commitment that the BNO passport scheme represents - and that Hong Kongers take seriously their role contributing to Sutton’s community as a result - including by staffing our local foodbank.
Carshalton Central’s councillor Isabel Araujo highlighted her own experience - and reminded us that it takes courage, perseverance & determination to leave your home country - and that courage and kindness can build bridges stronger than any prejudice.
Sutton West and East Cheam’s councillor Christopher Woolmer spoke movingly about the experience of his wife - and how stripping away the rights of those with IDLR would break the promises given to people in the past, who have made their whole lives here.
Carshalton Central councillor Andrew Jenner spoke about the need to highlight the huge contribution immigrant communities have made to Sutton.
Sutton North’s Ruth Dombey spoke of her family’s own heritage fleeing persecution in Russian occupied Poland,
and of her pride at living in a country that has “decency at its very core”.

Polls are interesting, but when parties run campaigns, and they are asked who they back to stand up for them, the only party challenging Reform are the Lib Dems.
