Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.
Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.

God bless these people.
Yes we did.
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. Itโs dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Itโs hard to believe a president would time an illegal military attack to distract the publicโs attention, but today is the statutory deadline for DOJ to release its report on the Epstein file production. Maybe it is just a coincidence.
UWโMadison boasts more than 500 courses that cover environmental topics, ranging from Climate Crisis Literature in the Department of English to Green and Sustainable Development in the Department of Real Estate & Urban Land Economics.
Eager to have a look at this one.
Drove through there yesterday. With the hot wind out of the south, it was a Yikes! moment.
Good morning, Madison.
Debating the aesthetics of #wind & #solar is a luxury. The real crisis is climate changeโthreatening billions with deadly heat & catastrophic ecosystem breakdowns โจ๏ธ๐ฅต๐ฅ Green #energy is a necessity๐ Challenges exist (noise, land use) but are manageable - biggest risk is inaction #dkpol #climatechange

Scientists decry Trump energy chiefโs plan to โupdateโ climate reports: โExactly what Stalin didโ [yeah, that was me] | Mark Oliver for @theguardian.com: www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
Stanford Universityโs student-run newspaper sued two senior Trump administration officials Wednesday, challenging Secretary of State Marco Rubioโs ability to revoke student visas and deem an individual deportable based on the content of their speech.
HUGE: The Trump administration will no longer permit any solar or wind projects on federal lands unless they produce more energy-per-acre than coal, gas or nuclear power plants.
Solar and wind literally produce less energy per acre, so simply this may just kill off any project on federal lands.
Besides the usual stuff, two great books, two great interviews, and a killer graph. Plenty of inspiring and clarifying goodies this time!

"We need to correct a false narrative that the #climate threat is under control. These enormous risks are potentially catastrophic. They would undo the connections between human & ecological systems that form the basis of all of our civilisation"

Scientists have been publishing climate models since ~1970.
A good way to evaluate their skill is to compare what they expected to happen in the years after the model was published to observed climate changes.
It turns out most models were pretty spot-on:
This is an extraordinarily important piece and all ๐งชโ๏ธ๐ญ should read it.
Congratulations to James Dahlberg, professor emeritus at @uwmadison.bsky.social and @morgridgeinstitute.bsky.social, on being named one of the Bayh-Dole Coalition's 2025 Faces of American Innovation! #WisconsinInnovates
A victory for the federal scientific workforce! We could not stand by while this irreparable harm continues at NSF, NOAA and all our scientific agencies.
TODAY the judge granted our request to temporarily HALT the mass firings at federal agencies under Trumpโs Executive Order.
Adding the brilliant and kind Ankur Desai to the panel to talk about what is happening to research about climate change.
Something to look in to.
He wore the cheesehead hat in WI. Spent $20 million. Paid people to sign petitions. Paid people to canvas. Did million dollar giveaways. A rally. TV interviews. But I guess people in Wisconsin didnโt appreciate an oligarch trying to buy their civil liberties.
1. One of capitalismโs greatest successes is to shut down our imaginations. With the help of its favoured tools - neoliberalism and fascism - it persuades us that โthere is no alternativeโ. Our first task is to re-ignite our moral imaginations and name our alternatives. ๐งต
