I talk about that a lot, but I donโ€™t feel like everyone gets what Iโ€™m saying. Like every person has their own set of innate values that hold true for them over time. Using those values as a compass and becoming more aligned to them is a really empowering process

You wonโ€™t get that kind of mindset- gaslighting from me. But Iโ€™ve seen it from a lot of less informed coaches and mental health professionals. Itโ€™s really upsetting.

Nope I regulate my reaction to like, rejection sensitivity or a waiter being impatient or my child getting on my nerves.
When I coach people in the midst of our today-level-national-crisis mode, we grieve the situation and talk about who we want to be and what we can control, just to stay sane.

Basically not being in fight or flight. For me personally, I know Iโ€™m dysregulated if i suddenly lash out, I feel a kind of tension in my chest and I think in a really aggressive way. Or I get anxious and panicky.
But thereโ€™s science backed tools to calm down, so now I fix it within minutes

I just saw an ad to therapists that started โ€œweโ€™ve all been there, your client has been on and off dysregulated the whole session and you only have five minutes left to bla bla blaโ€โ€ฆ. The hell?? Dude if your THERAPIST doesnโ€™t know how to help you regulate in the 1st 5 min. Get a new one!!

I thought I taught UNSHAMING ad nauseum, only to find out even my coaching group thatโ€™s been with me for a while hadnโ€™t heard this explanation, so here:

Shame is not an emotion. Shame is a construct that arises when your abuse or victim moment was not witnessed with empathy. Internalized abuse.

There are tools that actually WORKโ€ฆ in a matter of minutes! โ€ฆ to calm you down when youโ€™re overstimulated, panicking, having rejection sensitive dysphoria, or otherwise feeling triggered by something!!
Theyโ€™re science backed, and theyโ€™re easy to remember even when youโ€™re IN that state!!

Biggest takeaway from Workshop-get clear about this:
Is your stuck point because of
A. your brains wiring
B. The shame construct built on years of criticism from societyโ€™s reaction to your brains wiring

Weโ€™re great at designing structures that work for us. If shame doesnโ€™t derail our creativity

My initial theory based on this, is that task analysis is the biggest challenge point. Finding the pathways of the tiniest, least resistant steps and taking them one inch at a time. You can totally master that though! I didnโ€™t used to be able to but now I can

Stop trying to use tools that are proven to not work. At what point are you going to stop blaming yourself when you canโ€™t cut steak with a spoon and start reevaluating the tools youโ€™re using.

And yes, most of those tools were sold to you as โ€œa proven systemโ€ and โ€œbullet proof methodโ€. I call BS.

You mentioned โ€œthis doesnโ€™t happen all the timeโ€ I wonder if there are any keys in the times it DOESNT happen that would create a way to set up for it happening even less. You know? Like what works about those times. Like, when last 90% is w/o interruption so you never have to touch it again? Etc?
