Heard of "Darwin's paradox"? It refers to Charles Darwin's observation that coral reefs are wildly productive despite occurring in nutrient-poor tropical oceans. Reefs are, so the story goes, oases in marine deserts ποΈ...
Turns out that 2/3 of these assertions are very wrong...

Dare I say your tweetorial is really good ;) masterclass in captivating and motivating me to readit
They are not beans. They are also legumes (as are chickpeas, peanuts and beans, correct) but they are not very similar in taste or texture. They have an amazing nutri profile which is high in protein. Exactly, they come readily cooked and prepared to eat :)
Correct, unfortunately π₯Ί humans create a living hell gor so many
If it was a badly cooked tofu I'd try it. But *cooking* badly plus torturing sentient beings is one π€’ too much

itβs crazy to think about the amount of money Greta Thunberg would have if she embraced corporate sponsorships & greenwashing.
instead, she follows her moral compass β even when it makes her a threat to capital.
we need more people like Greta.

It's a legume snack eaten in Southern European countries. Actually quite ancient... the Romans were also snacking it

βAlthough coral restoration efforts may be able to save tiny pockets of coral reef in a few select areas, the only real solution for coral reefs now is a rapid phase out of fossil fuelsβ
Commercial fishing is the most destructive activity we undertake in the ocean π. Trump just issued an executive order opening the Pacific Islands Heritage Marine National Monument to commercial fishing. π€¬
When the Trump administration unprotects huge marine parks and allowes commercial fishing in a previous safe zone for dolphins, turtles and other aquatic animals:
Fuck this guy.
How to help:
Donate $$ to your favorite environmental groups. Donβt spend at Amazon. Thatβs how I do it anyway. I like sierra club bc they bring lawsuits against his administration for this shit.
Halting clean energy and expressing interest in annexing Greenland and Canada could even be a strategy: with global heating more agricultural land will become available there in the next decades and centuries

Yes there is. Its the ssp (shared socio-economic pathways) scenarios. Google them. If we rapidly stopped all emissions (the best case scenario), we would see a av. warming of 1.5Β° and a sea level rise of ca. 30 cm by 2100 if I'm not mistaken. This is unrealistic. We are more on track to 50cm-1m
If the trend continues, we're about a week away from global sea-ice extent re-entering "Gobsmacking Bananas" territory.
Stay tuned!
Trump regime ends funding of climate research at Princeton, because it "used resources to assess climate change risks, including alleged changes to precipitation patterns and sea level rise".

3 degrees by 2100 is maybe optimistic... thats somewhere between ssp2 and ssp3. But if the current political trends continue we might end somewhere higher :(
A jury in Louisiana ruled on Friday that Chevron must pay a parish government about $745 million to help restore wetlands that the jury said the energy company had harmed for decades.
