Older Than Ghost: A Novella by Brandon White (published by Lanternfish Press) The cover of this book features a single story brick home with an open window against the backdrop of a brilliant sunset.
Scored an ARC of this novella from @lfpbooks.bsky.social and couldn’t wait to start reading…
Spoiler alert: it’s great!

because I keep forgetting to mention it: LITERALLY ANYONE can nominate books for this prize! yes! that means you! you have until march 31st!
Update: the AWP help desk is very helpful! They fixed my badge and printed a new one.
Apparently the AWP badge couldn’t handle my double surnames situation (I swear I checked an image a few days ago showing how the badge would look, and it wasn’t like this!) Gonna need a sharpie!
Snow covered street with tire tracks going down the middle. A tree bends low enough for the tips of its branches to kiss the ground.
This snow is wet and heavy! Many trees on our street are bowing low under the extra weight. Some limbs have broken off. I didn’t make it too far; the wind is viscous.

Not sure if the author @mossmontmomery.bsky.social told them to put that on the cover or not but either way, it’s good to know—I need this reassurance right now

Wow! That’s a long time.
Just started PT for my shoulder yesterday. (A good therapist can do so much to impart hope when you’re beginning to fear pain might just be your new normal.)
Watching The Princess and the Frog tonight. And reading The Golem and the Jinni before bed later. Guess it’s time for fairy tales ✨🏰✨
The college at which I'm employed, which has signed a contract with the AI firm that stole books from 131 colleagues & me, paid a student to write an op-ed for the student paper promoting AI, guided the writing of it, and did not disclose this to the paper. www.thedartmouth.com/article/2026...

I read The Wolves of Willoughby Chase a couple years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. You’ve inspired me to check my library for the rest of the series!

Sometimes dumb things can make you smile, like these absolutely deranged SpongeBob stamps
A happy Stúfur. He is wearing old timey clothes, is bald and has a white beard. Illustration by Brian Pilkington.
Tonight Stúfur, 3rd of Iceland's 13 Yule Lads, comes down from the mountains. He sneaks into houses and eats the crust left on pans after cooking.
All the children put a shoe in the window for him to put a treat or a little gift in - if they have been good that is. The bad children get a potato.
I’m also wondering what’s up with this…hope someone explains!
Anyone else sitting in their car waiting for the end of the list before they go inside?
