The knight stood, triumphant, over the prostrate dragon. He raised his sword high above his head and-

"I wouldn't if i were you"

The voice was in his head. Confused, he glanced around. A black cat was cleaning a paw, casually nearby.

He raised the sword again.

"Are you REALLY, really sure?" /1

The fact that Isabel Oakeshott, economic migrant to the UAE may just turn into a refugee fleeing to the UK from a war zone will cause a level of schadenfreude in me that may just make me topple right over.

You mean to tell me that after a year and a half of being shat on by the Labour leadership, left wing voters decided to give someone else a go? Labour’s β€œit’s us or reform” message didn’t work because they’ve echoed Reform’s rhetoric since taking power?

Well I never. Who could have seen this coming

I saw how the Greens channelled voters’ anger – and fused it with hope. That’s why they won in Gorton and Denton | Owen Jones Starmer called the byelection a battle for the nation’s soul. This result shows Labour has lost that – and I think it will lose much more, says Guardian columnist Owen Jones

The politics of hope are back.

The politics of fear are in crisis.

You're telling me that Morgan McSweeney might lose his job and Wes Streeting might never be prime minister, because they were too close to Peter Mandelson? oh no that's terrible

In these dark days of February, a little something to look forward to.

If Adam Sandler had only made five of his best films instead of spending decades making hugely successful and remarkably silly comedies with his friends he'd be considered a generational talent. But instead he decided to get rich having fun, so he's often disrespected.

Dude has it figured out, tho.

The thing that really boils my potatoes about Al in general is that I have been a creative professional for over a decade now and the devil has ALWAYS been in the details. Big and small, I've had single-person businesses rip me to shreds over how their colors turned out on newsprint, and have worked with huge companies with THICK brand guidelines with every detail of their brand identity laid out and enforced with an iron fist.

But I guess all of that stuff doesn't matter anymore? Who gives a fuck if this Al generated baby has six fingers, that mom-and-pop shop is still going to use it. That rug from Temu says Happy Thanksgivirg? Oh well haha it's just a silly funny thing now (nevermind that you never would have given a B-grade item from a craft show the same consideration). I don't actually care that the Al Coca-cola ad has a truck that changes size every scene, but I can't help but think about how, if it had been some poor underpaid artist, they would have been laughed out of the building.

I don't really know how to put it in a succint way but it just feels all the more obvious how much more grace and flexibility has always been possible but never offered.

I think Brexit was garbage. But if in 2025 you're still pedalling "all we need to do is reverse Brexit!" you're ignorant. Everything before Brexit was fine, obviously. It was definitely ALL Brexit and not the six years of austerity before that and the 31 years of untempered Thatcherism before that.
