It looks like UDOT has updated the Point transit project website to recognize the motion passed at the Oct 9 meeting. While UDOT still has no obligation to do this project, it is encouraging that they went back and made reference to this motion.
Happy new year! ๐ Enjoy this new video from the depot series where we explore how the platforms could be arranged for the Rio Grande Plan!

Let's ignore my typo on my previous reply ๐ Good to know!
Imagine you're just chilling waiting for ol' 217 when suddenly you get polar expressed onto a trolley bus
Exciting things coming for Ogden Union station! Check out this new video! www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8TP...
While we wait for FrontRunner trainset contract award to drop, it looks like the maintenance facility design contractor has already been announced. I wouldn't say this is the first contract of FR2X, and it's only a design contract, but this is significant nonetheless

I love internet! Oh wait...
While Ogden moves forward with plans to relocate its FrontRunner Station to Union station, it would appear that American Fork is doing the same. Their SAP released in September has landed on a couple options. One moves it closer to Pioneer X-ing, and two moves it close-ish to the future Pony express
I still think even with a new DMU facility, having one down south makes a lot of sense for having early morning/late night service down there.
Some agencies will sometimes just park the train at the end of the line overnight to achieve the same thing, but a facility would obviously be better!
I have heard that it has been taken off the table at this point. I think @braddah-n8.bsky.social knows more
It's been difficult in the past because WFRC never had an avenue for community driven projects to make it on their radar, but they have launched a new program called "exploratory projects" which is designed exactly for projects that may or may not be municipality driven
It has plenty of acknowledgements in SLC documents at this point. And is getting even more attention in the WEConnect study.
What sets this apart is it's the first official acknowledgement by WFRC. Lots of conversations had to happen to get here

This configuration makes it practically identical in number of seats and layout, to the Siemens S700.
The other big hype was around the suspension. Which should make the rougher ride on the trunk line smoother for passengers.
Stadler gave a presentation today on the new CityLink vehicle they are making for UTA. The presentation confirmed the recent change to transverse seating (For wheelchair access), as well as a design top speed of 65 mph. Also confirming the previously promised 4 bike racks
Yes!
The only good outcome is if NASA lands on the moon, decides to go further, and issue contracts for a permanent base. But right now, this all sounds like flags and footprints 2.0
