In the next update, it will be possible to hot-restart on an unhandled exception.

This is incredibly useful in situations where code has been deoptimized and a few patches have been applied, especially in startup code, because this will automatically be injected upon restart.

Once again I need to shout out my appreciation for @liveplusplus.bsky.social. I'm dealing with some wacky geometric deformations involving formulas that are easy to get wrong.
Being able to just pause the game at a tricky section and modify the C++ code is pure magic.

The video also shows how far Live++ has come in the last years.
Loading the PDB data and building all internal Live++ data structures to run this takes 35ms.
The overhead of installing a patch into the running process is tiny compared to compiling even a single translation unit.

Showing DOOM (released in 1993) utilizing Live++ (released in 2018) is a true testament to its completely generic hot-reload abilities, requiring just 3 LOC.

Concerns have been raised that Live++ might not be compatible with the recently announced "Dynamic Debugging" feature of Visual Studio.

There currently is no reason to believe that Live++ will not work with this feature. We'll have a closer look once it's out of preview.
