Richard Marles lets down every Australian by gaslighting us about Trump and Netanyahu's war.

He's a powerful and dangerous politician - and we'll all be safer when he no longer makes decisions for us #auspol #qt

EIGHT DOLLARS A GALLON.

Downtown Los Angeles.

Today.

Trump promised to lower gas prices on Day 1. Instead he started a war with Iran and gas in LA just topped $8.

This is sticker shock. This is his fault.

The announcement today from the Albanese Labor Government to send an E-7A Wedgetail aircraft to the Gulf and provide medium-range air-to-air missiles to the UAE shows Australia has been fully dragged into another US forever war.

Australians don't want to get dragged into Trump & Netanyahu’s illegal war on Iran. Labor shouldn’t be sending troops to help a military that’s killed 150 schoolchildren in a primary school bombing. To keep civilians safe we should be urging peace, not sending missiles.

The network of Liberals behind two 'grassroots' childcare campaigns The childcare groups say they are the voices for everyday parents. What they do not mention is that they are supported by a network of current and former Liberals.

“A network of current and former Liberals is quietly behind two childcare groups who call themselves ordinary parents campaigning for the cost of au pairs, nannies and other in-home care to be subsidised by the federal government”

Why 13 rate rises didn’t break housing and why the real adjustment still lies ahead One of the more persistent questions I get asked at recent speaking gigs during the Q+A that follows by babble, is “When the RBA lifted rates 13 times...

"More than one-third of all Australian dollars in existence today were created in the past five years."

A good article on the broken housing market, and the banking weapons that prevent markets from working.
The result is economic vandalism via misallocation of resources, and wealthy crooks.

"Under the superannuation tax changes, the concessional tax rate on earnings for balances between $3m and $10m will double from 15% to 30%.
Balances above $10m will be subject to a new, higher 40% rate."

BRAVO!👏

Memo our ABC;
1332 Iranians killed
“Human Rights Watch said attack on a primary school in southern Iran that killed at least 160 people, many of them schoolchildren, should be investigated as a war crime. Al Jazeera’s investigation has also found that targeting the school was likely “deliberate”…

Kidnap people of colour
Bomb school girls
Kill their own citizens
Bomb half a dozen countries
Kidnap a President
Murder a sovereign leader
Protect child rapists
Cut foreign aid
Mass surveillance

And @albomp.bsky.social says we share values with these lunatics.

An election will show we don’t.

There is a big difference between Iran targeting other countries and Iran targeting US bases *within* those countries... a difference that Hegseth doesn't want people think about.

The magnificent Iranian plateau is super rugged with massive northeast & southwest running mountain ranges with both ice and (rare) salt glaciers but also two expansive salt deserts (one being one of the hottest spots on earth)

Secretary of State Marco Rubio told Arab Foreign Ministers the war could last several more weeks, Axios reports.

So at the current cost of $1 billion a day, we’re looking at, what?, $42 billion at least.

Everything else aside, trump declaring that he will choose the next leader of Iran is objectively hilarious because he literally chooses the worst possible people for every position he fills.

Some examples: Vance, RFK, Hegseth, Noem, Bondi, Leavitt, shall I go on?

So, in launching a huge bombing campaign on Iran they apparently didn't plan for:

- Who takes over;
- Interceptor shortages from sustained drone retaliation;
- How to defend US bases in the region;
- Threats to ships in the Strait of Hormuz; and
- How to evacuate Americans with airspace closed.

I've been the UK explaining-the-madness correspondent for Late Night Live for eight years. This week, for the first time, I went into the studio. It was oddly moving. It's been such a privilege being a small part of this great show.
