The toxicity of Keir Starmer supporting a policy dwarfed by the greater toxicity of Trump supporting the opposite policy

If Macron can open the straights then I will happily support France at the world cup in the summer.
what does the current crude price imply the market thinks?
100%. VAR exposes the fact a lot of rules are pretty nonsensical if rigidly applied.
Would keep it for offsides but hugely increase the tolerance level (don't think the Wenger 'daylight' suggestion is the answer). Broadly level should be on, as no real advantage.
Definitely not the worst thing about our ownership, but this is pretty grim.
Would be nice to see a bit of pushback from fans to this stuff. #nufc

NEW: After Gorton & Denton, how should we understand the threat to Labour's left?
Big new @persuasionuk.bsky.social report out with @38degrees.bsky.social on 'progressive defectors' - Lab 2024 switchers to Greens, Plaid, SNP, Lib Dems.
Who are they, who are they not & what's moving them? π§΅
Just another example of the right leaning into Trump lines (drill baby drill) even when it makes no sense in the UK.
These people need to stop inhaling American politics twitter.
The real crime is not saying 'fewer than 600'
New strategy: 'we will have so many weak points, our opponents won't know which one to attack us on'
Trippier's contract up at the end of the season...
Deciding in the summer that Tino, Hall, and Tripps could cover all the minutes at full back this season was totally insane given the mix of injury history and age.
Another option for cut through is 'comms at the point of delivery'. Thinking creatively about how to make interactions with the state comms opportunities. Media environment may be fragmented, but people still have to live in the real world.
We're probably losing: Osula, Willock, Krafth, Tripps, Ramsdale. Lascelles already gone. Schar might go (I would keep for one more year as 5th choice).
We need: two full backs, a CB, a CM, a GK, a fwd. Doesn't look like any of the academy or loan guys are ready to step up.
Newcastle were heavily linked, and could have used him this year!
Solidarity with Prospect members at London Museum who are out on strike today in a dispute over pay β
This is great stuff, really worth your time. The weird incentives created by the fiscal rules aren't responsible for all of the problems in UK politics, but they are responsible for quite a lot of them!
This is a good way forward that I hope people get behind.
I think people are also massively underestimating the short and medium-term fiscal costs of shifting to DC. Those Policy Exchange numbers are not credible, more likely to be tens of billions in next couple of decades.
Gordon also on for the champions league golden boot! Don't blame him
This is good stuff. We need to be more curious about the actual barriers to building, rather than just cartoon depictions of regulators as 'blockers'.
Dan's full report is worth a read.
It also feels like he doesn't realise that very few people are watching/reading his big speeches at these things.
'Leaders are being too slow to level with the public'... Errr ... You are one of those leaders.
There's also a line in there where he basically says 'this is why I spend so much time on foreign policy'. Which is fine, but tell people that, and don't say your focus is cost of living.
This bit of the recent Munich speech feels like it should be significantly more prominent in the govt messaging...
Only one half of 11 Vs 11. In that half it looked ok but Nick had to come too deep for the ball, we weren't really finding him in dangerous pockets. Still lacked cutting edge. Osula energetic in the press, which did lead to some good moments, but not achieving much in settled possession.
There is literally no excuse to get this so wrong. At no point in that clip is Digne anywhere near where he marks the freekick to be taken. Itβs just abysmal officiating.
This game is basically an advert for VAR.
For all the complaining about VAR, this is why it exists. Tammy Abraham clearly well offside but goal stands.
Yeah was also thinking about this. You end with this slightly bizarre 'only we can win... But we probably won't!' messaging
This. Lots of people around who have political instincts based on public opinion a few decades ago. Get with the times.
Tonali was just so... Weak. Shadow of himself, no idea what is going on there. Worrying.
Can't wait to get Miley back, but tbh we also need him at RB...
Always happy to chat about this from the union perspective!
