Earlier today Erie County Department of Health Commissioner Dr. Gale Burstein and I joined others, including researchers from Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and University at Buffalo, to Stand Up for Science in Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo. Measles and Whooping Cough should not be making a comeback, but they are because of declining vaccination rates. I'm proud to stand alongside those who have dedicated their lives and careers to believing in facts and science, not whatever the latest social media influencer posts. Thanks to all who attended today to #StandUpForScience.

Did you see the Roswell ad from this latest Super Bowl? A different department chair was in it! Pretending to run a PCR - it was pretty funny!
And of course, me and all my scientist friends are doing this as private citizens, not as representatives of our institutions, who may or may not share our values. (Ok, HR, hope this is good enough…)
