New observations from the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope have confirmed that the object will pass safely at a distance of more than 20 000 km.

We project more than 100 new gateways in 2026 as Starlink adds capacity in mature but high demand markets like the US and Australia, plus gateways to ease latency and network strain in places like Indonesia and sub-Saharan Africa.
It's wild to me that search engine AIs keep pulling up 150 gateways as a representative figure for Starlink.
At Quilty, we estimate Starlink ended 2025 with approx. 350 gateways, with major concentrations in the US, Australia, Brazil, Mexico and the Philippines.

The Bรขtiment Assembleur Lanceur (BIL) building will now be refurbished by Avio to assemble the Vega-C and future Vega-E launchers, allowing more Vega rockets to be launched a year.
The building will be rebranded as the Vega Assembly Building (VAB).
According to Amazon Leo, the stages for the first Ariane 64 rocket are en route to French Guiana aboard the transport ship Canopรฉe. The rocket is expected to be launched in early 2026 for the first of 18 planned missions for Amazon LEO. Image credit: Amazon LEO

Intuitive Machines to acquire Lanteris Spaceย Systems
Intuitive Machines, a lunar lander company, announced Nov. 4 it is buying Lanteris Space Systems, a satellite builder formerly known as Maxar.

German start-up Reflex Aerospace closed a โฌ50M Series A to expand its production capacity. Reflex will use the capital to expand the manufacturing capacity at its facility in Bavaria, which "will be able to churn out 60 to 70 highly complex satellites per year."

I don't always agree with Gottlieb's takes, but I've had innumerable conversations over the past five years that feel like this. Simply put: many satellite companies have no idea how to win against Starlink.
Mars isnโt easy. Orbit gaps could leave explorers out of contact. Powerโs always a challenge. And reliable communication is in demand.
