Buffy Smith successfully defended her thesis "Comparison & advances in the use of iDNA & airDNA for surveying endangered species & assemblages in a fragmented tropical rainforest" - a project carried out in collaboration with the University of Antananarivo & the Malagasy NGO SADABE.

Wing Ng successfully defended her PhD thesis, "Achieving Net Zero through farm level audits on commercial farms". Wing has really helped critically evaluate, refine and promote drone & satellite technologies as tools to help UK agriculture in carbon management & #NetZero.

Uzoma Igwe successfully defended her 'Infection Prevention & Control in Healthcare Facilities in Nigeria'.
Uzoma is currently part of the National #Infection Prevention & Control Team at NHS England contributing to the development of guidelines & contributing to evidence-informed practice.

Chris attended the recent South West Pharmacy Research Network conference "It was inspiring to connect with pharmacists from the NHS and various sectors & to learn about the impactful research driving patient care forward. I had the opportunity to present my PhD research on urinary tract infections"
Chris also recently attended the Australian Society for Microbiology (ASM) Conference & had the opportunity to present his research poster, contributing to the vibrant scientific dialogue that defines this conference.
Chris Olusegun recently had the privilege of attending the International Conference on Oral Malodour held in Bristol, a dynamic gathering that brought together researchers,
clinicians, and industry experts from across the globe. He also had the opportunity to present his own research.

👏 Congratulations to Liza (Yelyzaveta) Oliinychenko who successfully defended her PhD ‘‘Cold Plasma Applications for Safe and Sustainable Meat Production’’, was funded by the Dean’s Society, Science and Health PhD Studentship scheme.
👏 Congratulations to Tom Phillips who successfully defended his DBMS thesis exploring the views of laboratory staff towards the ISO15189 accreditation standards & assessed recent changes in the standards, as well as designing a training resource to support laboratories through the changes.
This work builds on the significant progress Faatihah Niyi-Odumosu and her team made through the Ageing Lifestyle in Blacks and Asians (ALIBSA: Home alibsa.com) and the FaithFit project.
Faatihah Niyi-Odumosu presented her work at the Diabetes Africa 2025 UK forum last month where she shared insights on how faith leaders and authentic community voices can improve diabetes care outcomes.
