Saved my butt later on in those Fighting Fantasy & Sorcery series!!ππ
Saved my butt later on in those Fighting Fantasy & Sorcery series!!ππ
Wish I'd gotten more & already owned maybe close to a dozen! Started off with one called Vampire Express, ended up with ones like Cave of Time, & other early ones. Still remember The Horror of High Ridge being gruesome & Mystery at Chimney Rock being hard getting to a happy ending, five finger save!π
Given Satya's obsession with subscriptions & trying to strongarm Win 11 users into M$ accounts (instead of a local one),to find your files disappearing into the OneDrive void, wouldn't surprise!π
Still miss Windows 7! π A.I. reminds my Computer Studies teacher teaching GIGO= Garbage In Garbage Out!
I do recall the Zzap! review mentioned the 16bit version had a "black & white" TV style mode to give it old school visual vibes.... though already seemed hard enough without disabling colour cues imho! π
Managed to beat it a few times on the old breadbox...got my butt SPANKED trying to play the arcade as a kid though! π MAME & cheats a definite must,it owes me a few credits, much like Ghosts'n'Goblins etc.!!
Yes & no...can get by kicks for the most part, but you MUST use punch on the wizard bosses at the end of level 4 & level 5 "final" boss needed a combo of kicks & punches to take out,(one lower, one standing of punches, one lower, standing & flying kick from memory)!
Had an official 2nd hand copy but with duplicated part a both sides of the disk!π€― Can thank The In Crowd for addressing that,(mostly to grab LN1 too!)...even if it meant flogging myself trying C64 Karnov!π€―π±π€£ Gryzor just didn't want to be fair!π Banger Richard Joseph SID in Barbarian too!
Must admit it rings different hearing the tune in NTSC & faster pace of what was already a decent challenge! Tempting to use the cheat mode on lvl 1 but usually would cause a crash in my experience! Needed the joystick planted beside the keyboard for the space bar punch switch!
Rick Dangerous series were an exercise in remembering layouts & patterns...so needless to to say I failed spectacularly!π€―π±π€£ Bring on the trainers!π
Given I could never master the gymnastics in OG Summer Games, & the injuries on the ski jump, I dare not trouble my ice skater!π±π Not sure even with the controls booklet I'd do better!
BITD, UK publishers & devs rarely got access to source code etc.,& would have to video playing through the arcade game & try port what they saw to the likes of C64, Amiga & other 8/16bit formats,so you could forgive some compromise or omissions...here it just comes off as a Temu knock off!π
Would love to see a good version of Ghouls'n'Ghosts get ported, but no easy task taking another version whether Megadrive or PC Engine or what such & try make it somehow work on Amiga. Anyway, loving how nicely this is shaping up already, looks nippy in action!π
Sadly this is where playing on emulation/gamepad on PC bites, just not able to pull off moves properly or waggle for the likes of the Epyx "games" series! That said, even with a joystick certain events always eluded me,some spectacular crashes though!π
Better grab a cheap soundblaster card before the tech oligarchy decide they need them for A.I. too!ππ Giving C64 Ultima & the old AD&D SSI games a run for their money!π
It's understandable to get confused about its sequel status given how different Rainbow Islands was in its gameplay. Parasol Stars feels spiritually closer to BB with its single screen setting. Weren't many PC Engine to Amiga ports, but the few out there seem to all be top notch.
Two worker dudesπ€―...this will be a cakewalk compared to the first game...oh!π±π€£ Let's just say good thing there wasn't any OHS officials thrown in belting you with a tablet taking footage of your misdeeds!
Funny how the more A.I.,& trying to strongarm you into attaching an M$ account & lock you into addon cloud storage services rather than the old days of optical discs or spare hard drive the more bloated & intrusive it's all become! π
Not sure what was more frustrating. The pooping bats in part A or the head butting goons or robot cats in part B!π±π€π But excellent SID... when you hear it in full! Great presentation & one of the great top 5 loading screens of the C64 OG era, matching the wonderful poster!π
And elevator doors that never quite seem to open quick enough when you REALLY need one!π±π½π
It'll be fine...as long as the TV & Beer doesn't run out!ππ
Can only hope this isn't the start of a new trend for Atari published Digital Eclipse retro releases being Nintendo exclusives. Quite strange & sad to hear you're effectively divorced from the other versions. Hope they remain available & not a sign of being delisted at some unknown date.π
Also C64 & Amiga floppy image downloads, not a huge drama... but start looking at the likes of mp3's & it's "please hurry up before my time limit expires!"ππ
I *think* I'd read, the likes of Pang & Battle Command ports took advantage of the constant loading, & others like Turbocharge certainly would've benefited from it. But could you imagine stuff really built around it?
The sad thing is in their rush to get it out,you saw few games that took full advantage of the cartridge tech. (Especially original games).
The hardest thing is do I cheer baddie Chong-Li "final boss", or the "hero" who seemingly made up fake records & a non existent tournament?!ππ€£π€ Loved the movie...cheat mode should let you throw salt & move ref in the way of your fighter!π Good start so far!ππ€
Was only recent years I played this. But having seen programmer's Tony Gibson's Ghettoblaster intro mentioned it,can see some of the DNA of that game from here about bandits, cops, ladies of the night & one's personal nightmares roaming parks...at least here it was due to too many drinks!ππ
In this day & age,is it the short lived crapshot UK only console that noone wanted (cartridge size & concept good, but years late much like the C65 concept would've been),or just a lifted pic from elsewhere...if that's worth that, I have some dodgy old floppies that make my fortune!π€£
Wasn't perfect...but like the Sam & Max sequels they also did around then,(before TWD design cookie cutter design took over),it had an intriguing story that made you want to get the season pass of chapters! π
Nope,on PS3/PS4! Agree Bttf 3 had potential...just driven to madness by that first level!π€ͺ Definitely needed a cheat version from the high seas to see the rest of the game!
I blame buying it on the Electric Dreams publishing logo being a rip off from the movie namesake (by Virgin)...& kid me thought, what could possibly be wrong with a BTTF game!π Oh well, at least the TellTale adventure game was a fun spin off!
