I think there are probably levels to it: people amorphously say "Web standards" *all the time* and then sometimes rattle off specific ones. ATProto doesn't have to be front and center of the application to be worth mentioning or of potential interest to a user

Relating to the initial question (of changing handles from within Tangled)

(I realize the answer to this is *eventually* "run your own PDS" but I'm not *quite* there yet and trying to do this incrementally)

Alternatively then, I assume I can move the one I just created *off* the Tangled PDS?

To be fair, this happens to me *any* time I try to post actual technology discourse there -- as opposed to quips about companies that hide salaries, but lie about how much they value "honesty and transparency"
