Such a cool story, Cuyler! Glad it's got a second life!
Canadians travelling to the US advised to not fucking do that
One baffled, frustrated Cupid and a lot of killer lines.
Love this drabble from @ashdoeswords.bsky.social!
Thank you so much, I'm excited to be included!
Thrilled to be included in the "Women of the Weird West" anthology coming from @brigidsgatepress.bsky.social and edited by @kcgrifant.bsky.social!
Weird West is such a fun genre, looking forward to reading everyone's stories!
Eek! Me tiptoeing away, quiet as a mouse...
I have not, but now I'm hungry.
[Although Montreal bagel > NY bagel.]
The awesome @eliodray.bsky.social in his interview after winning Elegant Literature!
Learn how his winning story had its origins in erotica. :)

You can't argue with facts.
I read your Elegant Lit winner! It was just fantastic: gripping, nuanced and what a compelling main character...
And you've won NYCM too! That's incredible, congratulations!!!
Delighted that @ratbaglit.bsky.social has given my dating app drabble a home for their Cupid Misfires call.
With the barest mention of Cupid in the story, I'm lucky Ratty appreciates a greasy spoon breakfast!
My story "Everbright, Ever Faithful" is on Chris Fulwell's delightful podcast "One More Short Story".
It's the first time I've had a story narrated, and @spjames.bsky.social did an amazing job! <3

The world could use a few more Cupid Misfires like this one...
Oh wow, I thought that was something he wrote! Oops!
Now that I've looked it up, I see it's a known idiom. Just not to either of us, apparently. :) Good to know!
"as nervous as a long-tailed cat between two rocking chairs"
Love when an image leaps off the page.
[from "Us Against You", by Fredrik Backman]
Haven't heard of that one! I'll look it up, thank you!
Oh, interesting! I've never seen the movie, and I didn't even realise it was based on a book (oops). Will add that to the TBR!
Gingerly tiptoeing into reading horror this year. The list below has some intriguing suggestions for new books.
Any other recommendations for a newbie horror reader (besides Stephen King and Shirley Jackson)? I think I'd prefer creepy/psychological vibes to gore.

It has "a compositional strategy that would not reappear, even in conventional poetic format, until Li Shang-yin 500 years later, and not in the West until the 20th century." It's also" a visual object constructed of text, which is another strategy that has only recently been explored in the West."
TIL of Lady Su Hui, a 4th-century (!) poet in China, and her most famous work, the mindboggling βStar Gaugeβ.
Going beyond a reversible poem, she created a 29x29 grid, which can be read vertically, horizontally, and diagonally. Forwards and backwards.

@writingbattle.bsky.social is a prompted story contest. There's 8 this year: half are pro-judged and half are peer-judged. Different word counts and genres each time, lots of fun. π writingbattle.com
I really loved that story of yours that I commented on for the course, though!
Hey Malina! Nice to meet you outside the class!
Unfortunately, I have a ton of beta reading that I'm already doing for my two writing groups, sorry! Also I'm sort of brain dead from providing feedback for stories both in the course and in my last contest (Writing Battle: do you do that one?). :)
Browser page error message: "Oops, the page you're looking for doesn't exist."
That link's giving me a "no such page" error?
Ha, that's awesome! It's been ages since I watched Jeopardy. I've been missing out!
Intrigued! Examples? :)
