I never did either, but the people I know who did CUNY came out with really strong skills and were ahead for graduate exams. It seems like an experience people either love or hate

I enjoyed listening to this! And thanks for making me feel less stupid about my total confusion about Roman law sources (I will be emailing you extensively in a month or two)
I really enjoyed this! I especially liked your phrasing of working with theory as making the theorist and the primary text have a conversation
A red outdoor sign for the University of Ottawa stands among green shrubs and bright red flowers. The sign displays the universityβs logoβa stylized building with columnsβalongside the text βUniversitΓ© dβOttawaβ and βuOttawa.β
Greek & Roman Studies at uOttawa is the ONLY program in Ontario where students can study Ancient Greek and Latin in French. The university just resuspended it. #SOSClassicsUO #ONfr #uOttawa buff.ly/UtgW0vq
At the SCS CAMP could deploy characters from their play for the role and it would double as free advertising to come to the play!
I propose that in classics we have the Eumenides perform this role

Happy Valentineβs Day! π

I was thinking of it as recessive accents more than anything else. I donβt think I was fussy about learning persistent accents when I taught Greek but I do make my Latin students learn macrons
I have been contemplating some kind of accent-learning board game? It feels like @apistone.bsky.social would have good ideas for making it work
Ha! I did this last week
*hugs* have a photo of the doggy Iβm babysitting this week
I so often need something for just an hour! Also it would be a cool way to make some unexpected intellectual community
There should be an opt-in program where if youβve checked out a lot of the same books as another user in the last year the library can put you in touch. In other words, who else at my institution is reading about frigidity and has all the books?
There are lots of things going on in the world right now but please also go and sign this and email the powers that be at U Calgary to save their Classics and Medieval studies program! A number of Canadian departments have reversed attempted closures so it is worthwhile
Iβve taught him at the end of first year Latin and my students had a good time! Iβve always found the way social and family ife appears in the letters very appealing
Obviously the answer is yes
Oh I wasnβt sure if youβd be here! Looking forward to seeing you!
I went the other day and happened to arrive just as a free tour started! I really enjoyed it despite the pouring rain
For Classicists who want more juicy Latin analysis, Iβll be talking about Hermaphroditus and asexual gender at the SCS on Jan 9!
The Early Modern Asexualities conference starts tomorrow! Itβs fully hybrid and free to register!
Iβll be talking about asexual gender in Arthur Goldingβs translation of Ovidβs Metamorphoses on Jan 7

Happy birthday!
Footnotes, ESPECIALLY if reading electronically. Itβs just too annoying to scroll back and forth
Congrats Javal! Really excited to see where this work goes!
This is a great time to break out my only Corpus Tibullianum meme
Clearly he chose YOU! You had to! Chicken will cope
Oh heβs GORGEOUS

I canβt remember seeing anything on that specifically but more generally Iβve found Elizabeth Bartmanβs work helpful and she may mention the terminology. I think Janet Stephenβs JRS article is more Flavian. My suspicion though is that βnodusβ is a modern name
Itβs that time of year! If you identify as somewhere on the ace and/or aro spectrum go take the Ace Community Survey! Itβs a really important source of information on the ace/aro communities and Iβve been grateful to be able to use their data in my work. acecommunitysurvey.org
This looks terrific- looking forward to reading it!
